More CIA planes spotted in Malta flying suspects to EU for interrogation

More CIA stopovers uncovered, government still silent

(Independent Online)- As more sightings in Malta of planes used by the United States Central Intelligence Agency for the highly controversial practice of extraordinary rendition come to light, the government has so far failed to reply to questions on the issue put forwarded by this newspaper 10 days ago.

>>>>This newspaper has reported four landings of three different planes used by the CIA to transport terrorism suspects, once apprehended, to countries where the use of torture for intelligence purposes is common practice. The reason for the stopovers in Malta is, however, still unknown.

This week another landing in Malta has surfaced with reports and sightings evidencing the presence of a De Havilland Canada DHC-6-300 Twin Otter in Malta between 2 and 3 August 2005. Plane spotters capturing images of the aircraft at Malta International Airport remark on the unusual blade antennae on its upper fuselage.

This newspaper has also confirmed stopovers in Malta by a Lockheed L-100 Hercules with tail number N8213G on 31 March and on 25 August 2004, a Boeing 737 with tail number N313P 6 December 2003 and a Gulfstream jet with tail number N227SV on 17 December 2004.

These, and other, private planes are being used by the CIA and are owned by shell companies serving as covers for the CIA’s clandestine prisoner transports.

1. CIA Charters and the Boston Red Sox ... Our National Pastime
Hi Again,

This is Binka's partner, Binka is letting me post on her account... I couldn't resist!

With all the stories here in Europe with Secret CIA camps in Poland, abductions and fly-aways in broad daylight, the Italians trying to subpoena 22 CIA agents... there was something about this story that caused a flashback!

The thing that caught my attention was the Tail-number for the Gulfstream IV "N227SV", that is the actual registration number of the Gulfstream owned by the Boston Red Sox minority partner Phillip H. Morse, and also used as a Team Charter for execs, players, and other special guests....

"The jet sometimes has a small Red Sox logo on the fuselage near the door. The jet's registration number, N85VM, was changed to N227SV, but Morse said there was ''nothing devious or clandestine" about the change. He said the original number was not changed when he bought the plane from El Paso Gas and Electric.

''When it's chartered, it never has the logo of the Red Sox on it," Morse said. ''They cover it up."

The Chicago Tribune, citing FAA records, reported that the jet was in Cairo on Feb. 18, 2003, shortly after an Islamic cleric disappeared from his home in Milan in a case Italian prosecutors are investigating as a kidnapping.

Additionally, The Knight-Ridder reporters accessed copies of "Federal Aviation Administration records obtained by the Chicago Tribune show that Gulfstream N85VM has been many places around the world that the Red Sox have almost certainly never gone."

Between June 2002 and January of this year, the Gulfstream made 51 visits to Guantanamo, the plane recorded 82 visits to Washington's Dulles International Airport as well as landings at Andrews Air Force Base outside the capital and the U.S. air bases at Ramstein and Rhein-Main in Germany.
The plane's flight log also shows visits to Afghanistan, Morocco, Dubai, Jordan, Italy, Japan, Switzerland, Azerbaijan and the Czech Republic.

Egypt, Afghanistan, Jordan and Morocco are among the countries to which the United States is known to have "rendered" terrorism suspects. ...
