Dean 08. Just maybe it is a good idea ...... |
|
I don't think the Democratic Party has respected him enough. Maybe he should step down ....

17. Because he explicitly promised not to run in exchange for the chairmanship |
|
Many, many democrats would see him running as breaking his promise and a sign of untrustworthiness. Also, high-profile supporters would be slower to get behind him than last time in light of the '04 disaster. This is especially true for influential organizations like unions. Finally, he is no longer the new and exciting outsider. He is now part of the establishment and will not have the same kind of appeal to young voters and volunteers.

25. Many people would not see it that way |
|
Especially many voters. The deal was the chairmanship in exchange for not running. Agreeing with him on everything or following his lead obediantly was never part of the deal.

the deal is not about being a short term Chair. On Edit: See post 23.

32. Respect needs to be earned |
|
If he hasn't managed to earn it then he can't say that he is entitled to it. In any event, he wouldn't stand a snowball's chance in hell as a Presidential candidate in 2008. He might win Vermont again (maybe) but that's it. Actually, if Hillary is running, I doubt that he'd even win Vermont.

He'll lose. Simple as that. He couldn't win with everything going for him and very weak opposition in 2004. He won't even make a ripple in '08 if he runs.

I did in 2004, I would gladly do it again in 2008.
Dean/Clark in 2008? Has a nice ring to it!

I always have respected Howard Dean. He's something special. I didn't vote for him, but the guy has something in him. He's a good man. And, a true fighter.

22. With Dean: 1)he makes a statement |
|
2)statement is misconstrued because Dean blurts stuff out without thinking 3)Dean retracts statement or tries to clarify it 4)by this time, nobody cares what his original statement was because it's gone through the MSM spin cycle
With Kerry: 1) You wait 2) you wait 3) you wait 4) by the time he makes a statement, the issue is over

mouths about Dean. Some may think that Dean, also, is too quick to say something, but, he most likely turns out right. Also, remember as long as he's the Chair he won't run.

30. That doesn't really tell you too much either with our stacked primaries |
|
After a certain point, your primary vote doesn't really matter so you get behind the leading party candidate to push him over the top. I'm here to say, if I'd known more about Dean before, I would have surely voted for him. I'm an after the fact convert. Living in Illinois, we don't get much chance to get in on the ground floor of candidates, we get the end product.
