he describes the scene outside of the Cook County Jail when executions were performed there. They sold hot dogs, popcorn etc. It was like a big county fair. People used to insist you could see the lights dim when they threw the switch on the electric chair. When I read that I knew I could never support Capital punishment. Unfortunately I think there are a number of people who would support public executions. AS much as I love Phil Donahue...let's not go there.

on this discussion board concerning Tookie Williams imminent death I thought about the onlookers at lynchings. Troubling to say the least.
I believe this nation has a deep sickness that it seems unwilling and unable to face.
