Why Doesn't Fitz Just Put Shrub On The Stand?
Bob Novak says Bush knows the identity of the Plame traitor.

So shouldn't Fitz put the Kennebunkport Cowboy on the stand?

I'll bet he'd sing like a canary.

1. For what?
Novak has already told the grand jury who his two sources were. Unless it was Bush (it wasn't), there is nothing Bush can add to the Novak information.

3. corroborating testimony..
now that Novak has said this, Fitz would have reason to put Shrub UNDER OATH.

13. karl rove would be for what
but fitzgerald will not go there for now. if bush did know at the time that fitzgerald is looking at, bush may have another chat with fitzgerald.

17. It's known
that Rove was the second of two senior WH officials who told Novak about plame. Novak hasd testified. Rove has three times. Bush has spoken with Fitzgerald, which is pretty significant in this type of case. Now, because a grumpy Bob Noval snapped at a journalist's question, it seems pretty unlikely that it is of any legal significance, as far as the grand jury goes. And, if journalists ask Bush, it's safe to guess that he'll say he can't comment publicly on an on-going legal investigation .... which is true.

5. Too much circus effect at this
point. Fitzg does not want to turn this into anything more like media mania than he has with all the current celebs. Besides, until the impeachment, I really doubt anyone will really hear testimony from Chimpy.

8. That's a great idea
I'd like it even better if Fitzie could indict GWB along with the other defendants, both current and future. Lord knows, there's enough to indict him with.

But since that's impossible, I'd settle for an impeachment and removal from office. The revenge is not as sweet as prison time, but whatcha gonna do??

11. After all, Bill Clinton got called to testify before a Grand Jury ...
... and the connies built an entire impeachment case out his testimony.

I'd think it would be only fair that Shrub have his moment of truth.

12. Besides the silliness of your idea
for reasons already pointed out, he could probably claim executive privelage and refuse to testify.

These idiots on Hardball. Do you think the President knows who leaked??

Well excuse the fuck out of me.

Libby, Rove, Hadley.

HELLO???? Did HE ASK THEM??? If not, why not? And why has nobody insisted the man answer that question. How could he NOT freakin' know.

16. If you put a President on the stand
You better be damn sure there was no other alternative. Because, if there was any other way, the prosecutor would get strung up, literally.
