3. Came to vote wrapped in their country's flag? |
|
If we did that we would be arrested.
What have "we" created here? Sounds like Georgie's little theater.

8. Did the election of Lincoln? |
|
It is the process of Civil War not the Birth of a Nation. the prospects are indeed worse since the preliminary shooting and mobilization began long ago. The sops to try to stop a larger bloodbath do not weigh against this nor is any leader on any side able to rise above inevitability. And the damned occupier is sitting there inside the mess both as a guarantor of conflict and a signal for the general festivities if it leaves.
The feel good crap about elections is only for those still lulled by the propaganda over here so the Shiites can take control with "legitimacy" over there. It's the nutty kind of sales job that makes us appear the dumbest nation on the face of the earth that anyone would even think it would work on us.

9. What if I believe its possible they can? |
|
Just because I'm a DUer doesn't mean I have to suspend my own beliefs does it?
Of course, the question as a YES or NO answer is silly anyway. No one knows for sure. It's possible.

10. As was mentioned yesterday, if the Sunni's are permitted the |
|
Correct amount of represention in accordance with the population...then there could be a good possibility of at least some form of stability.
Of course electoral stability in Iraq is a difficult thing, from a historical perspective. There's been problems since the 1920s when Iraq became a British protectorate and the Hashemite dynasty was founded and the British installed King Faisal I...and then from 1932 when Iraq became independent through to 1958 when they had the Ba'athist military coup through 1979 when Saddam Hussein took power through to now...there have been a myriad of problems based on tribal tensions.
So, whilst if the Sunni's achieve a correct amount of representation with these latest elections, there could be a form of stability...but Iraq will still have a difficult road ahead.
But I wish them only the very best on that road.
