Lest we forget during the upcoming corporate media blitzkrieg...
Edited on Fri Dec-16-05 03:03 PM by tjwash
...about how mighty and great the neo-cons are because of the voting turnout in Iraq to install the latest U.S. puppet, remember that:

The WH claimed there were stockpiles of WMDs in Iraq, and a revived nuclear weapons program. They also hammered day in and day out the lie about how the intelligence left "no doubt" that Iraq posed a direct WMD threat to the United States, and that Iraq had mobile biological weapons labs. Also mentioned in every speech, press release, and sound bite was how Saddam Hussein was "dealing with" Al Qaeda, was responsible for 9-11, and how the smoking gun could come in the form of a mushroom cloud.

Let's also remember how we heard on the news constantly, leading up to the invasion, that it would not require hundreds of thousands of United States troops to secure Iraq after an invasion, and that the reconstruction of Iraq would not burden United States taxpayers because it would be self-financed via Iraqi oil revenues. Oh I almost forgot the greeted as liberators with roses thrown at our feet part.

Let's also remember that after we invaded under false pretenses, we were told that that there was no insurgency in Iraq, that the post-invasion looting was no big deal, and over 140,000 Iraqi security forces were trained. Not to mention the billions handed over to Halliburton in no bid contracts, and the massive price gouging and war profiteering that has ensued.

So we are all of a sudden supposed to believe a god-damned thing that comes out of their mouths now?

I'm going to remember all of this when we are blitzed in the next few days with how great everything is going, and get asked "why, oh why are you so damn cynical? Do you hate America or something?"

1. I do not think it will work...

we have seen them tout every other election as a surefire fix for Iraq before. Things were always going to get better, they would say. I do hope the people of Iraq can now come together, but I do not think most Americans are expecting much out of this, and most are finally seeing that we need to leave pronto!

3. It's interesting how the price of gas at the pump went down...
while heating oil subsequently has gone up.
