1. Are they actually calling it "the WAR on Christmas?" |
|
please tell me they're not trivializing the real war that so many of our kids are over there fighting with this diversionary idea of a "war" on Christmas.

2. I have a friend who is a flight attendant |
|
A bread and butter, diehard Democrat, party line voter, who has interacted with him on flights on a number of occasions.
Off camera, my friend reports that Old Cal is (and this is rather surprising to me) a polite, considerate, soft-spoken individual, of the please-and-thank-you variety.
Except for that GOP blind spot, perhaps he was raised right...
And looking at the large landscape of it all, I guess the latest imbroglio over that little US government phone tapping, enemies list business kinda puts yer Happy Friken Holidays/Merry Goddamned Xmas issues on the back burner....!!! Ho, ho, ho...indeed!!

3. Cal Thomas has shown signs of waking from his stupor |
|
more than one time within the past six months. I've been utterly gobsmacked at some of the stuff he's written lately.
I guess the Koolaid wears off if you don't keep drinking it every day.

4. Yeah, but he's wrong about Christmas |
|
Christmas IS about the lights on the tree, and giving gifts, and parties. It's NEVER been about Jeebus. The church co-opted it in order to do something with the official Roman holiday at that time of year. Jesus is NOT the freakin' reason for the season, and it's a bunch of revisionist malarkey to claim he is.
If there'd never been a Christian church, we'd still be celebrating Yule or Saturnalia or whatever you want to call it, with caroling and parties and gifts and lighted trees.
