Before Katrina, Joe would get on the tube every day, and the first thing he would do would be to give junior the obligitory helmet-wash. Another bush ass-kissing dirtbag. Like the rest of them, I had no use at all for this guy.
Then came Katrina. Maybe I'm naiive, but it sure looked like Joe was pissed, and that he was personally connected to the tragedy. Joe was as outspoken as anyone here (I'm new, but I've been lurking for a long, long time). Joe slammed junior over brownie, and demanded accountability. He still does.
Did Joe see the light? I watch him, and he seems different. More balanced. If this is true, then this is a good thing.
But is it true, or do you think I'm buying into more bullshit?
It does look like Joe no longer has a taste for junior anymore. Could this be possible?

If he condones the torture then he's still an asshole. Thanks for sharing that, I must have missed it.

after Kerry's speech at the convention he was impressed and said he might not vote for Kerry but he would feel secure if Kerry was elected. Two days later he was swiftboating.....

7. Guys like that offer "safe" editorial, comments that are certain to |
|
resonate with the general public, as dictated by polling. The mood of the public was such that it was popular to gig jr. about Katrina. For a while they were getting after jr. in general, but the wh press team has convinced them that jr. is staging a comeback.

8. Joe's show is Joe's show |
|
He's never quite as big a dickwad off his show as he is on it. Katrina was the first time I'd seen "off-show Joe" on his show. He's definitely Republican and definitely allows himself to be a propaganda tool, but there seems to be another side to him that isn't totally insane. As opposed to Chris Matthews, who doesn't know what the hell he believes and flips around at the drop of a hat, or Bush's package, or something.

9. Sometimes Joe really does get mad about the right things |
|
He was furious about how poorly Bush performed in the debates, he was furious about how Bush and others let down the people after Katrina. Some days he sees the light but he is always careful to make sure he bashes the dems more than the repubs. However, he does seem to care about hurricane victims as he comes from a vulnerable area for hurricanes.

10. Scarborough seems like a genuine conservative... |
|
...as opposed to just a Bush ass-kisser. So many of his values are downright offensive, but he doesn't fall into lockstep. I'll never forget the show he had last year before the election where he had a left-wing, anti-war folk singer on to perform an anti-war song, and afterwards, he complemented him on the song, saying it "harkened back to the great protest songs of the 60's". Unlike a lot of right-wingers, he does have an understanding and an appreciation for anti-war and left-leaning causes, even if he tends to disagree. He reminds me a lot of my brother in that way. He's a very smart guy.
But a republican is a republican, and I wouldn't invest TOO much sentiment with him. After all, Pat Buchanan is right on a lot of issues, too...

He is somewhat like Buchanan. Both are right enough of the time that it can be frustrating when they are wrong on others. It is important, of course, to separate most of what they say on tv from what they really think. Buchanan's books are far superior to most of the nonsense he is paid to say for entertainment value on the tv news. Scarborough is likewise more intelligent than his show generally allows for. If more republicans were like him, there would be far less conflict between the parties.

15. Joe is a funny guy.. He obviously has more smarts and personality.. |
|
than the average repuke politician or pundit. I know that he knows in his heart that bush is not good for the country. He just can't let go. And, I have to say that when bush messes up bad, nobody does a better rant on bush than Scarborough. That's only time I watch is when Joe is ranting against bushes latest f*ck up.
