my paper's front page says "Bush Allows Spying on Citizens"
I like this headline for at least three reasons: "Bush," not "The government"; "allows," not "acknowledges" or "responds to"; and "citizens," not "potential terrorists." (BTW, this was in The Oregonian, based in blue Portland but circulated around a state that's very red in the rural areas.)

:woohoo:

How about a headline round-up? How are other newspapers presenting this story?

1. Mine's not as cut and dried:
The Houston Chronicle claims his authority was used as an anti-terrorism tool.:eyes:

Bush secretly OK'd eavesdropping on Americans as anti-terrorism tool

2. NYT: Bush Lets U.S. Spy on Callers Without Courts
NY Daily News: Homeland spying report
NY Post: Shocked Lawmakers Demand Spy Program Probe
Newsday: Shocked Lawmakers Demand Spy Program Probe
NJ Star-Ledger: Bush has let NSA spy on Americans for last three years
Daily Record (Morris County, NJ): Shocked Lawmakers Demand Spy Program Probe

The three newspapers with the same headline all used the AP story, not one of their own.

5. Oooh! How cool is that!
Thank you! Now I have a new bookmark!

It's odd that many papers have "Bush Allowed Spying"-type headlines in a big font above the fold and some don't mention it at all.

6. Many papers hold most of their A1 for local news
You'll see a lot of stories on the Iraq election because everyone knew that was coming, so it could be put into the A1 budget in advance.

I'm at a loss to understand why the LA Times didn't have *'s latest crime on the front page, though.
