[NPR] Cokie Roberts pinpoints opponents of the Patriot Act
On her NPR "analysis" this morning, she said that gun-owning white men don't like the Patriot Act.

So...maybe we should rethink whether the Patriot Act is a bad thing?

2. Or ...
I'm a gun-owning, white guy ...

I'm a member of the Green Party and about as liberal and progressive as you can get.

I don't like the Patriot Act.

So, maybe knee-jerk "liberals" ought to get off this kick that the Second Amendment is bad. It isn't.

I tend to think that good, patriotic progressives need to be armed to resist the Bush regime if it declares martial law ... which could happen when the next "crisis" or "attack" comes.

6. Me too
Except the Green party part.

I think more than just gun-owning-white-guys think the PA is sinister.

8. Me three except for the Green thing and the gun-toting thing.
I'd never own a gun unless the revolution arrived at which point I'd join a militia and borrow one of your guys' guns. And if you didn't have any to spare, well, then I'd borrow a pitchfork or bow and arrow or something.

10. Suggestion
Even if you don't wish to own one, you could still take gun safety and marksmanship courses. Never hurts to be prepared. :)

13. Good advice even if the * doesn't hit the fan.
What if you find a gun? Can you check to see if it's loaded safely? Can you unload it safely?

It's not that I'm ignorant of guns. I know how to use them. I just don't want one in my house. Too many gun inuries/deaths are caused by accidents, especially with children involved. I just don't want my kids growing up around guns or especially with guns in the house.

20. Didn't you hear her on-the-spot reporting of Hurricane Katrina's aftermath
She painted a heartrending word picture of the devastation visited upon New Orlean's yacht club...the only witnesses to the wreckage being flocks of seagulls, and the federal troops guarding the facility...

17. She's 180 degrees out of phase
Just about every white, gun-owning repuke I know supports the Patriot Act. Hell, they support any bill their spoiled little hero signs. The Medicare Drug Bill is the only one I've heard them complain about.
