Look, people, what we saw and heard will bump * up in the polls.
Whether we like it or not, Bush gave a very strong physical performance.

He gave his supporters a reason to get back on his bandwagon.

I THINK HE IS THE WORST PRESIDENT == EVER === BUT

He and his team are clever marketeers who know how to deliver a message.

Now, I forgot???? Who do we have on OUR team?? Who?

Bush today recaptured the bully pulpit and I am sick to death about it.

Where is Fitzgerald???
Where is Delay???

We are never, never, never, never, never, never, going to win one rally point.

Does anyone disagree????

20. I agree
I too, think he did not accomplish much other than gice his die hard supporters something of a reassurance. I think most folks are starting to wake up and see how corrupt he and the repugs all are. As long as Dem leaders keep pushing for investigations, keep Frist, DeLay, Rove, Libby, et al in the limelight,* will not get much out of any of this.

31. If anyone took the time to watch his performance today...
They should be worried at how belligerent he seemed...

How he kept trying to talk over the press to the American People by repeating that it was his job to protect America and to protect Civil Liberties...

And yet, he never once said what he was doing to safeguard our liberties...

He will get his base, they wouldn't leave it even if they could... But he is pushing the independents away and taking democrats completely of the table, even those who want to support the president just because he is the president...

in the polls.

I have been living with Republican misery along time.

Let's see now

Bush knocked off Anne Richards
Bush knocked off John McCain
Bush knocked off Max Cleland
Bush knocked off the 2000 election
Bush knocked off the 2004 election

and we have done WHAT??????????
and we have won WHAT??????????

I dare any of you to respond with something intelligent.

18. a bump, maybe. The press peed themselves over 3 points
that took him to barely 40% approval. I don't think he can get above 50% no matter what he does, as long as troops are in Iraq.

So, Bush blamed everyone except himself for terrorism. "If only they had given me the keys . . ." Bullshit. All branches of government controlled by republican majorities, and Bush can't get what he wants?

I think most folks will resent getting hollered at today by the moran. How many people do you know who think he has enough knowledge to wipe his ass properly?

even his supporters are turning on him.

One caller said Forrest Gumpishly "You never know what you are going to get when you vote for President". He was asked if he voted for blivet** and he said, regretfully he had because Kerry was "just a bit too two faced for him". Guess the joke was on him. Kerry was only two faced because this two faced President TOLD him Kerry was two faced.

They are waking up and they aren't liking what they are finding.

24. I have to disagree. Even though I only saw the first ten minutes or so
(I had to turn it off in disgust) I think Bush gave a horrible performance. He is an awful speaker, and he sounds like he doesn't have a clue what he is saying.

All this talk of Bush "getting better at speaking" that I have heard from everywhere over the past few years is just all over-hyped bullshit.

Besides, that's the kind of praise that would be appropriate for a ten year old. Not the President of the United States.

The long-term trend for Bush downward, in absence of another Terrah 'Tack.

If Bush recaptures the Bully Pulpit, it's a good bet that he had to pay the Bully some stiff rental fees.

You've got to expect periodic fluctuations in the political atmosphere. It's a chaotic system. But Bush is headed for disgrace, ignominy, and oblivion.

26. Ninga, you have a good point.
I didn't watch either performance, because I can't stand to watch him. But the Bush team are great marketers. They are the lousiest bunch to occupy the White House in my old lifetime, but they know how to sell even horseshit.

It will take someone with courage in the Senate to call this NSA spying for what it is, and to call Bush on it. And I'm wondering who will do it. The message must be clear--getting a warrant would not have slowed him down one bit. It's how these people think--everyone who stands in their way be damned. Amazing thinking by the leadership of a democracy.

Good or not, the speech and PC will fade away in a few days time. What will matter, as it always has, is what happens in Iraq on the ground. Bush can no longer manipulate the news, that's something he can no longer control. Too many in the public don't trust him enough for that.

And let's see what Fitz does.

REMEMBER, THE OTHER SIDE AGREES WITH ANYTHING HE SAYS WHENEVER HE SAYS IT. WE HAVE TO CONTINUE POUNDING OUT THE MESSAGE THAT WHAT HE SAYS, WHENEVER HE SAYS IT IS BULL. ITS THE SAME OLD SAME OLD OVER AND OVER AGAIN.

I think your expectations are a bit too high and your patience a bit too low. What you fail to see is the fact that Bush is out trying to regain his footing means something has knocked him off-balance. Our job is simply to keep tripping him every chance we can. Let him play President for a day and then we'll Zing him again. It's "death by a thousands cuts" and his poisonous blood will stain all of those who hold him up. This neocon plan has been in motion for 25 years or more and it's going to take time and energy to root out this evil pox on our house.

I thought Shrub was awful today.
He was loud, rude, disrespectful, testy and edgy.
There was nothing graceful, dignified or inspiring about anything he said today.
I don't think anything he said was genuine.

I also think a lot of it was very contradictory to the attitude that Shrub as tried to portray in the past. Since when does shrub give a shit about what others think of him? He sounded like he was asking the public to like him. He's never done that before. To me, that's a sign of weakness.
