permanent. He claims we can't "protect" the country without it. A bipartisan commitee of Senators say the Bill is flawed and needs work. They want to work on it for a cuople of months. Bush says my way or the highway. He says the Patriot Act will expire and it will be the Dems fault. Harry says it is Bush's fault because if he picked up the phone and asked the GOP Senate to extend the Bill for debate we would be covered but Bush want to call the Senate's bluff.

2. Today Bush said that the congress "must pass the Patriot Act" |
|
or else the USA could be attacked again like on 9-11.
It was an outright threat. Pass a facist act or terrorists will attack us. The man is an insane crimnal who need to be impeached and jailed.

3. Kyl - (R) Arizona suggests extending for one year as an option. |
|
Durbin replies that it would get shelved at that point and put off until the last month or so anyway.

The Patriot Act expires 12/31
The existing Patriot Act has been amended in conference and many house revisions are now included. The Senate Democrats want time to look at the changes but do not want to leave the country unprotected. So the Democrats are asking for a voice vote to extend the existing act for 3 months while they review the modified version. Is that correct?

7. That's correct and the repukes want all or nothing. It's that simple. |
|
If, in the next 3 months, there is a terrorist attack in the US...it is on the repuke party! THEY ARE REFUSING to extend it for 3 months.
