6. I Think A Lot Of People Don't Understand What The Extension Is About |
|
Really. Why would we not want the extension? It is the extension that gives us the time to get a patriot act that actually has something to do with patriotism.

10. There are two "extensions" being discussed. |
|
One extension is the Reauthorization of the Patriot Act itself. Certain portions of the bill are set to expire at the end of this month, and the Act extends those portions of the original law. It was this that did not get cloture on Friday, thanks to a group of true patriots, our Senators.
The other extension is the three-month extension, offered by those same Senators. It would extend all the provisions in question for only three months, to allow for a full debate on their merits. This is even more necessary now, in light of the revelations about domestic spying.
So, you are entirely correct. The three-month extension should be accepted by the President as a way to resolve the issue, but he is being intransigent because he wants things all his own way. Let's hope he doesn't get away with this too.

The three month extension, that would give congress time to examine the act and strip out offensive sections, as requested by prominant Dems, or the extension the republicans want, to immediatly extend the un-cut act?
