25. That is the problem with this country.
Working people in the United States need a strong national union of ALL trades, crafts, and workers to combat corporate dominance over our government. It would include all workers in Blue & Red States acting in unison to effectively shut down the country, until fair demands are met.

Imagine:

Living wages for all, or nobody shows up for work.
Health coverage for all, or nobody shows up for work.
Affordable decent housing for all, or nobody shows up for work.

The question is, could this kind of a National American Workers Union be possible and get widespread support throughout the country?

8. woot! Which side are you on?
"Which Side Are You On?"

Come all you good workers
Good news to you I'll tell
Of how the good old union
Has come in here to dwell

Which side are you on boys?
Which side are you on?

My daddy was a miner
He's now in the air and sun
He'll be with you fellow workers
Until the battle's won

Which side are you on boys?
Which side are you on?

They say in Harlan County
There are no neutrals there
You'll either be a union man
Or a thug for J. H. Claire

Which side are you on boys?
Which side are you on?

Oh workers can you stand it?
Oh tell me how you can
Will you be a lousy scab
Or will you be a man?

Which side are you on boys?
Which side are you on?

Don't scab for the bosses
Don't listen to their lies
Poor folks ain't got a chance
Unless they organize

Which side are you on boys?
Which side are you on?

---------------------------------------

This government had an idea
And parliament made it law
It seems like it's illegal
To fight for the union any more

Which side are you on, boys?
Which side are you on?
Which side are you on, boys?
Which side are you on?

We set out to join the picket line
For together we cannot fail
We got stopped by police at the county line
They said, "Go home boys or you're going to jail"

Which side are you on, boys?
Which side are you on?
Which side are you on, boys?
Which side are you on?

It's hard to explain to a crying child
Why her Daddy can't go back
So the family suffer
But it hurts me more
To hear a scab say Sod you, Jack

Which side are you on, boys?
Which side are you on?
Which side are you on, boys
Which side are you on?

I'm bound to follow my conscience
And do whatever I can
But it'll take much more than the union law
To knock the fight out of a working man

Which side are you on, boys?
Which side are you on?
Which side are you on, boys?
Which side are you on?

15. I support TWU
Never a member of a union but I appreciate everything the unions have done over the years to help increase the numbers of the middle class by millions and millions and millions.

Time to demand that every elected Democrat loudly, proudly and boldly support the TWU, other unions and non-unionized workers as well, all of whom have been ruthlessly and mercilessly beaten upon by the ReThugs for three long decades to the obscene tune of billions of dollars funneled into Executive "compensation packages" even when the executives are totally incompetent, amoral and criminal, and utterly fail at their jobs.

We need to build a middle class world wide in order to thwart the global corpo anarchists who want it ALL! For that, we need to strongly support unions locally as well as a global union movement.

Edited on Tue Dec-20-05 10:30 AM by MadHound
They were the ones that backed us when I unionize the group home I was working in at the time. Great people, though I did find it a bit odd organizing under a group primarily concerned with grocery workers. It worked out fine though!

And I support fully the TWU!

27. i am not union. i am business owner pro business.
the pro business comment though i know union is pro business it is what pays the wage of members, so ultimately that is a bi partisan issue.

anyway, i have been thinking about this strike and regardless of the hassles, cold, lack of movement in a huge city, it is important this union stands strong. union must gain some power with the abuse of the corporate world
