LaRouche is a freaking idiot
Got my monthly call from a LaRouche supporter the other day. At first I started getting a little annoyed because he was giving LaRouche credit for just about everything good that has happened recently, from Bush giving in to the torture ban, to Reid shutting down the Senate.

The conversation evolved and we were talking about the "pending economic crisis" and I commented that part of the solution is refocusing our economy and energy policy, with a focus on renewable energy (as outlined in the New Apollo Project seen at http://apolloalliance.org). This will create jobs, new tax revenue, help the environment, and end our dependency on foreign oil.

I was blown away at his response.

He said the US actually needs to use THREE TIMES MORE ENERGY than it is currently using, and all the talk about conservation is BS. He said I need to "get serious" when I'm thinking about the future of our country and started implying that I didn't know what I was talking about. I assured him that I do know what I'm talking about, and that I've been working in the renewable energy industry for over 15 years. He wasn't impressed and insisted that renewable energy and energy conservation is not part of the solution, and that using renewable energy means "going back to the stone age."

I told him he doesn't know what he is talking about and he should stop wasting my time and take me off his call list.

I was so annoyed that I wrote them an email. I was even more blown away when I got this response, which supposedly was from LaRouche himself:

Here is Mr. LaRouche's reply to your comments. In the future, if you have comments or questions for Mr. LaRouche, address them to asklarouche@larouchepac.com. This will be a more direct way to get your e-mail to him, so that I don't have to forward your e-mail to him and his reply to you.

TO: Gary Beckwith

You should not be offended. He was correct. The idea
of "renewable energy" is a hoax spread as a scientific
fraud to undermine the U.S. economy and its standard of
living. You should not be m offended when someone
tells you the truth about an important issue of national
policy.

--Lyndon.

I can't believe what an idiot this guy is. They had me fooled for a while. I'm so glad I never sent them a buck.

4. He is Pro Nuclear Energy
and the worst thing about reading his publications is exactly what you mentioned, the "LaRouche is the answer to everything" mentality.

I live in VA and know some people who work in that organization and my experience with them has been pleasant although I've read numerous accounts citing the opposite. They do a lot of things just for shock value, to get attention and that makes them looks discredible as well.

6. I guess it took me a while to figure it out, however...
I'll tell you one thing though... He has a lot of young kids following him. Every event I go to in the summer time, he has a table set up, and a bunch of kids handing out his info.

8. LaRouche = Cult
Back in the 1960s and 70s when he was posing as a left wing guru he used the name Lynn Marcus. Yup, a "clever" combination of Lenin and Marx. For many years in the 80s I'd run into his clones at DFW airport where they sold a magazine that claimed nuclear fission power was the answer to all our energy problems and would give away copies to anyone that would sign up (give them their name and address). There were many cases where they'd charge thousands of dollars to credit cards that were used to buy their literature and use the money to run LaRouche's presidential campaigns. I think this is the scam that landed LaRouche in prison for a few years where he shared a cell with Jim Bakker (birds of a feather??)

9. Now you've done it.
Do not respond to LaRouche goons. Now they will never leave you alone.
You might as well have invited Moonies into your home for tea, or accepted pamphlets enthusiastically from Jehova's witnesses, saying, "Come again real soon!". ,or chased a Mormon missionary down the street, saying, "Hey buddy! Tell me about the Angel Moroni!"

There is one, only one thing , that will save you from twice daily phone calls from those pesky Branch LaRouchians.

Tell them your last name is really Goldstein, Goldenberg, Rubenstein, or Schwartz....or like that.
