I believe that most people here at DU know and appreciate the difference, that being that a court must be involved in a legal wiretap-and that those who want one must have a reason. Personally, I think the illegal wiretaps were fishing expeditions and/or checking up on what liberals and progressives are doing.

We are left with wiretaps obtained through FISA statute and ones that are legal merely because Bush said so.
