Mexico objects to border wall |
|
I've seen several news items today alluding to Mexico's stringent objections to the border wall, and I haven't decided how to feel about it.
On one hand, a wall seems like an overreaction a la Israel or something akin to the Berlin Wall. On the other hand, it seems as if Mexico is upset that we're making it more difficult for their people to break our laws.
What do y'all think?

but what a shocker (NOT directed at you, OP).
I got lampooned over my thread regarding this. The first thing people wanna do is shout 'racism!' Of course, I don't see how wanting my country's laws respected and our economy to be what it should be is somehow xenophobic of me, but hey. These accusations are exactly what the big holdup is. They WOULD eb upset if we made it harder to break our laws. I know that they just want a better life for themselves, but we have people HERE already in trouble - what is so wrong with people obtaining the benefits of citizenship here the LEGAl way?

If anyone REALLY wants to do something about illegal immigration all they would have to do is ENFORCE current labor laws. They wouldn't come illegally or not if they didn't think they could get a job. Why is this such a difficult concept for people to understand? Why pass more laws that won't be enforced and/or spend millions, billions, whatever on a wall. I was a very happy person when The Wall came down in 1989 (1988?) and I damn sure don't want to see one erected by my own country. Walls on our borders with friendly neighbors is outrageous to me and is just one more example of how our current government is driving nails into the coffin of America.
on edit: AND if what you are most concerned about is jobs why not pound congress on the visa issue and outsourcing. Wouldn't that be a better solution to the job situation?

8. Mexico is a racist country. |
|
If you are of the tiny Spanish population or the majority Mestezo population (mixed white and Indian) you have all the privledges. If you are of the 30% Indian population you might as well be black under apartied.
Mexoco recognizes that most people immigrating to the US illegally are either Indians from the south of the country or people who are in Mexico illegally from Central America. They don't want these people.
