Lott helps woo Dems in last-ditch attempt to pass ANWR
"...Lott (R-Miss.), the former majority leader, is working the Democratic side of the aisle in an effort to drum up sufficient support for a pair of votes necessary to ensure the legislation’s enactment...

For example, Hawaii Sen. Daniel Inouye, the ranking Democrat on the Defense Appropriations Subcommittee, signed the conference report. The other Democratic appropriators on the conference committee either refused to sign the report or noted their disapproval of the ANWR provision in the margin next to their signatures. Inouye and Hawaii’s other senator, Daniel Akaka, have supported ANWR drilling before.

The $453.5 billion spending bill that funds the Pentagon and military operations in Iraq and Afghanistan not only carries the ANWR provision but also funding to protect against a pandemic such as the bird flu and $29 billion in aid to the hurricane-battered Gulf Coast.

The latter item would make it difficult for Sen. Mary Landrieu (D-La.) to do anything that would hold up the underlying measure..."

1. I would like to know how anyone could support drilling in Anwar.
It woun't solve our energy needs as it will only produce a small amount of usable oil in 10 years. I hope these two Dems come around.

I guess.

It just bugs the shit out of me that the pukes know that they can't pass this shit as a stand alone bill so they try and tack it on every fucking thing they can think of.

:grr: I'm off to bed. I just hope ANWR's still there when I get back from work tomorrow.

On Edit: Fingers faster than the brain...
