Why does Specter want to wait until after Alito for hearings?
I'm listening to the news report on KGO and Stephenopholeous (sp?) is saying that Specter wants to wait until after the Alito hearings for hearings of violating the fourth amendment. Why? Why isn't he in jail now? He admitted to violating the rule and his oath is to protect the Constitution and he didn't. I have a bad feeling with that. :\

1. Bush will probably appeal stuff to the supremes
and wants to make sure he gets favorable decisions, sooo Specter will try to get Alito on the court first.

5. Senator Durbin said the same thing in press conference today
reporters asked and he said after the alito hearings.

On the other hand Barbara Boxer said the opposite, but then she's not on the judiciary committee.. however she sits on one of the foreign relations committee that deals with national security issues - so she's in the position to move on that, but i think she'll need to get a ranking member on the D side to pressure this along - I don't if that's Ted Kennedy, but John Kerry's on that committee, and a bunch of other prominent Dems...

so, they might be able to get this going before the Alito, hearings.

we need to do our part to pressure senators for hearings asap.. (before alito)

11. Yes, it's past time
to shout it out through and to every possible channel--Congress, the Corporate Media, blogs, etc. etc.--IMPEACHMENT HEARINGS MUST BEGIN IMMEDIATELY ON CONGRESS' RETURN AFTER THE HOLIDAYS. SG

:nuke:

8. For the same reason that Boxer said that Alito confirmation should wait
Edited on Wed Dec-21-05 03:16 AM by me b zola
Spector wants to allow the courts to be packed with cronies;

Boxer wants the spy hearings/impeachment BEFORE bush* can pack the SC

The packing of the courts is one of ways that the US will be damaged for generations to come from the BFEE.

Those who want our country to live want to stop the BFEE before they can stack the courts, those who are subverting the Constitution want to stack the courts and then deal with the problems facing our country, hence kill our nation "legally".

Boxer knows that the Republic willNOT survive an Alito confirmation.

Spector is the same bastard who put the lid on the Warren Commission.

9. That's a no-brainer...
Obviously, he wants to load the SC with one more sympathetic vote in anticipation of the moment when the "high crimes and misdemeanors" impeachment case goes before it. Alito is openly on record as in favor of extended executive powers. Sandra Day O'Connor (a more moderate voice?) will retain her seat until her replacement is officially installed, unless I'm mistaken. SG

10. The Supreme Court will ultimately rule on the legality of this.
They want a packed court - that would give Bush the green light to be the little Nero with the blessings of the GOP-owned-and-operated Supremes.

Sandra Day O'Connor might actually rule based on the LAW, and she seems to like the Constitution for some reason.
