Holiday conversations with freeper relatives - tis the season, but |
|
this one may go a little differently. I don't know anyone in my family, regardless of past positions, who isn't upset about the whole NSA illegal spying thing. And it's barely scratched the surface, wait till the "who" was spied on lists start coming out - in addition to more stories about those scary Quakers and Greenpeace.
Something just feels like this year's conversations are going to go with coffee & dessert much better than other's in the past years have.

1. I love my family, regardless of ideology, and they love me. |
|
I have no trouble talking with them. I owe them for everything I am today.

3. I used to hate the holidays for this very reason |
|
but my rw relatives are basically wusses who I can back down every time. And they don't seem to hold our disagreements against me personally. But I also think they will be a bit less enthused in their praise of * this year, since they are more or less government-hating libertarians.

4. I'm thinking about telling some political jokes... |
|
...about the illegal spying. It might be a good way to break the ice with some of my family members.
Anybody know one?

5. the very knuckle dragging gun totun.....male that has backed bush |
|
regardlessly, are so opposed to govt having and using this against the american people. the ones i know innately, within their soul have got to be bothered with this big govt...... it goes against everything they have been ranting about for decades. this was a huge no no
bush have the cowards, on right and left, that are willing to give up freedom, duck hop at airports, because they are so afraid of what might happen. those are the people that will support this with bush. and many of the males i have talked to havent like that they have gone this far with our rights, but they still back bush. this one though, spying on americans without warrant. breaking law and constitution his gonna be hard for them to swallow
i believe

6. Remind them: If your First and Fourth Amendment rights are toast... |
|
those beloved Second Amendment guarantees can be wiped out just as easily. A president either "preserves, protects and defends" ALL of the Constitution or NONE of it is safe!

7. someone suggest......nsa has gathered all documentation on gun |
|
owners.
watch them explode, then say, well dont know for a fact, but i do know they have done that with other americans, if preceived to be opponents of bush
i also like looking at these law and order dudes adn say,..... bush doesnt have to follow law, neither do i.
what really pisses me off and put me in a policitcal rant late last night, laying in bed. i havent done that in a long long time. all this stuff, plame, dsm, bush spying on americans, i told everyone of these "conservatives" supporting bush during the campaign. they said to me, if not in news not happening. some called me a whacko left wing liberal........
so reality, what i will say i think/.
fuck you all. i was right........ RIGHT and you all were WRONG

Need to hunt it up. Want to print lots of copies and tack them to every surface I can in this county.
Rubbing their noses in who was right is not as important to me as getting through to most of them that they had best be thinking about saving the nation. A bunch of people who find out they were betrayed can be a pretty nasty implement, iffin we hone it just right ;)

11. you know what makes being right so important |
|
these things i said them, outloud and clearly adn they rejected at hand. these people are the people that need to stop and say, we are being lied too. we need to research info. right now, it is important for my people to realize, remember all this was said before election, and how they thought i was absurd. the reason that is important is so they dont make this insignificant. so they remember how outraged they would have been way back then, if what i was saying was true
but i agree.
it can be done. adn doesnt need to be a rub nose in mess.... but a think. please. for my children and yours

12. another reason it is so important, we acknowledge i was right |
|
WHAT ELSE AM I RIGHT ABOUT. election theft. a pretty big one. maybe these repugs ought to do research, cause truly, if they did, and concluded 2000 was stolen, and then look at 2002 and 2004, they would be as offended as the spy thing. IF they could actually get some kinda proof. they really wouldnt like.
and i really want to pile on the anthrax, military base, repugs taking prevention drug, aimed at dems and reporters bashing bush, investigation died,./.....
people died

Yeah, been called crazy a time or hundred myself. Now some of those who disparraged are stopping to run some epiphany they had by me from time to time. Like, gee, they remembered and admitted I had a valid fear AND they took the next step in critical thinking... WOW
All for reminding them that 'some said...' in the past and helping draw the lines to what facts are FINALLY coming out now then holding their hands and encouraging them to make the leap to what else is gonna be proven correct.
Some egos are so fragile I would lose them if I served up crow. To those with egos so big they wouldn't allow for the possibility they were wrong, I got a front end loader for the crow fest ;)
Decided it was better in the long run to play to my audience when trying to teach them. Some have more limits to what they can absorb.

everyone is BLUE. But at least one of my co-workers, who is usually apolitical, is hopping mad over the spying thing and is ready to demonstrate !

Or he said so at least. I mean, he does like to tease me because I am a liberal and he is not but he even voted for Kerry last time. He was giving me a hard time because AWOL's poll numbers had risen somewhat.
