"I say the best disinfectant is full disclosure"- Tom DeLay, 11/16/95
Edited on Wed Dec-21-05 01:26 PM by kpete
Hat tip to GSD for the reminder on this vintage DeLay quote:

"The time has come that the American people know exactly what their Representatives are doing here in Washington. Are they feeding at the public trough, taking lobbyist-paid vacations, getting wined and dined by special interest groups? Or are they working hard to represent their constituents? The people, the American people, have a right to know... I say the best disinfectant is full disclosure, not isolation."
- U.S. Rep. Tom DeLay, 11/16/95

Not To Mention That Money Doesn't Seem To Buy Much Class
We were directed to an article in today's Fort Wayne Journal Gazette detailing the sort of lifestyle Tom Delay's cash-rich PACs afforded him, including visits to "cliff-top Caribbean resorts, golf courses designed by PGA champions and four-star restaurants." The fabulous life of Tom Delay took him to "places of luxury most Americans have never seen." Like Sugar Land, Texas?

Instead of his personal expense, the meals and trips for DeLay and his associates were paid with donations collected by the campaign committees, political action committees and children’s charity the Texas Republican created during his rise to the top of Congress. His lawyer says the expenses are part of DeLay’s effort to raise money from Republicans and to spread the GOP message.

Wow. Who could have guessed that the GOP's message hadn't successfully penetrated exclusive resorts and top-dollar restaurants? Did Delay talk trickle-down with the dishwashers? If not, it seems to us that that's a lot of money spend on preaching to the converted.— DCEIVER
