so 43 brave souls.

Please note that Lieberman and Clinton get cookies today. They may not always get cookies. But today they were good.

7. DeWine Voted Ney???? WTF
I guess he's one nervous puppy these days. Seems like he's had a bunch of buyer's remorse about his big money Repugnican buddies in recent months. Well, he and Lincoln Chaffee will know that when you lay down with dogs, you wake up with fleas...but still interesting how he's left the reservation and the right wing media seems to be ignoring him. Hmmm....

8. This is major. It's the first BOLD move since Social Security. Thanks DEMS
I'm seeing a lot of names there that say a real leadership and whip function took place. Harry and Durbin must have really kicked ass. Who's missing...oh, could it be NELSON, NE & THE inimitable LANDRIEU, D, LA. Any confirmation on that.

Great move Harry, great support Dick, great follow the leader DEMS. It's about time. Let's make a habit of it.

10. the missing ones are Nelson, Landrieu and the Hawaiian Dems
Will Pitt post earlier that the Hawaiian Senators always vote with the Alaskan Senators and vica versa on issues in their states.

11. Now that's a quaint custom. Do they party together too!
What part of D E M O C R A T P A R T Y do they not understand.

Time for some political re-education. I'd say, Reid will deliver some form of "correction" at some point and make it fairly obvious to the in crowd. I'd like to suggest that these four laggards be given new offices somewhere near RFK Stadium.

I'm just amazed at Landrieu. If any city, let alone the biggest and best, in my state had been abandoned and left to drown and starve, I would never miss an opportunity to smash * and company. I'd look for chances I'd be so furious. But Landrieu...well, I think Anderson Cooper got her about right.

20. I do believe there was Katrina money involved in the bill, yes.
Kerry kept talking about the soldiers and Katrina victims being held hostage to big oil (aka Stevens and ANWR). So I do understand her vote. But what about the Hawaii boys?

25. These brave patriots just voted for torture today and I wonder
Edited on Thu Dec-22-05 05:48 AM by sfexpat2000
how many of them knew it.

The Graham-Levin Amendment was in that bill. Look what Human Rights Watch says about it:

U.S.: Landmark Torture Ban Undercut
Congress Would Allow Evidence Obtained by Torture

(Washington, D.C., December 16, 2005) – Even as the U.S. Congress has passed a prohibition against the use of torture and cruel, inhuman, and degrading treatment, it is set to adopt legislation that would strip the judiciary’s ability to enforce the ban, Human Rights Watch warned today.

After months of opposition, President Bush yesterday accepted Senator John McCain’s amendment banning the use of cruel, inhuman and degrading treatment by U.S. personnel anywhere in the world, and prohibiting U.S. military interrogators from using interrogation techniques not listed in the U.S. Army Field Manual on Intelligence Interrogation.

But the legislation containing the McCain Amendment currently includes another provision – the Graham-Levin Amendment – that would deny the five hundred-some detainees in Guantánamo Bay the ability to bring legal action seeking relief from the use of torture or cruel and inhumane treatment. And it implicitly authorizes the Department of Defense to consider evidence obtained through torture or other inhumane treatment in assessing the status of detainees held in Guantánamo Bay.

http://hrw.org/english/docs/2005/12/16/usdom12311_txt.htm

Tomorrow, the House has to revisit their bill and this will be up at 4 p.m. Let's see if those patriots vote for torture, too. :(

i wonder....

time to tell them, then, i guess. so much for that sh-- about them not reading bills. michael moore spot on the mark again.
