1. They mentioned that on WJ this morning.
I don't remember if it was the RollCall reporter or some diff. publication, but he said Abramoff was expected to accept a plea deal sometime soon and lots of people on the Hill in BOTH parties were very worried.

12. McCain...if I could have just one
McCain has this image as a reasonable person...clean...but I think he's as misguided as the lot, the scary part to me is that he is so popular, even among dems.

4. Oh, you bet he'll sing
Even with the deal he's already cut, he's going to do significant jail time, but he's so screwed by the turning of Scanlon, he really has no other choice. If he refused to deal, he'd never see daylight again.

Besides, Scanlon and Kidan have already agreed to testify against Congressman Ney of Ohio, and that's just for starters.

This is going to have a much greater impact that the Fitzgerald investigation. Much more extensive, much dirtier.

I've already reserved my front-row seat.

10. January 9th...Get Plenty Of Butter
That's when the first Hurricane Abramoff trial is to begin. Supposedly he's lost his fortune and is desperate from becoming some big boy's bitch. The Prosecutors have this fish right where they want him...and I suspect they won't sign off on a deal until right before this trial begins to squeeze him further.

When Scanlon flipped, I upgraded this storm from a Catagory 2 to Cat 3. When Abramoff sings, we are entering Cat 4 territory with a huge storm swell ready to bash into red states all over the place. The fun will be when the prosecutors go to the next step and start squeezing up inside the various Congressional offices that are sure to get tangled here. Nothing will amuse me more than seeing a bunch of federal marshalls hauling boxes of records from House and Repugnican offices and Mr. Abramoff and his friends start showing investitgators how all those pieces came together. Then there won't be enough popcorn in Iowa to handle all the fun.

Merry Holidays...

13. Nice monicker, my friend
I like that, especially now that it's left the station.

It's not just Congress that's going to get sucked in here. There's a LOT of talk about town (I'm an old Washington lawyer, now basking in the Virginia sweet Southerness, where the ghost of Mr. Jefferson keeps laughing softly) that the Executive Branch is sincerely involved.

I'm stocking up on butter today. I think 3 lbs. will be enough, maybe, for January.

And to you, too, my friend.

15. I Only Hope It Gets Into The Infrastructure
I always appreciate your comments and contributions here...it's obvious you've witnessed much over the years, see the complexities and thus appreciate all that's transpiring.

My hope is we get a nice guts-side up view of the workings of the Repugnican/Neo-Con/Fundie/Right Wing or as Sen. Clinton calls it...the VWRC...in all it's Norquistian glory. Unfortunately this one won't be squeezed down a bathtub...but I will delight in the day Grover gets his long due comeupance as well as Ralphie Reed. Now if that trail leads to Brent Bozell, Roger Ailes, Morton Blackwell, the Eberles and various other "operatives", this will all but implode the party's current structure in a spectactular fashion. I'm sure some Democrats will get swept up in this as well, but such is the price...we know this scandal is soaked in red, and so will the voters.

No question the tentacles lead into the executive, but right now we've got plenty of other goodies to keep them hamstrung. Getting investigations into wiretapping and other violations of criminal laws must be the Senate's priority when it returns. Harry Reid must demand an independent investigation into some, if not all, of these scandals before he'll allow the ScAlito circus to get going. The stage is all set for this bit of theatrics and I suspect the next month won't improve things for this regime, thus giving Reid even greater leverage in January. Add to that that Hastert's gonna try to keep the House shut down as much as possible until his hand is forced on the DeLay noise...then watch that fur fly. Now add the Chinese checkers of Hurricane Abramoff turning up names and phone records and criminal prosecutors with fresh subpoenas and these asshat's won't know what hit them. Couldn't have happened to a nicer bunch of criminals.

Thank goodness for great sites that are following the many aspects of this story and allowing us to watch things as they transpire. The dilemma is keeping the short attention spans on so many different spinning plates.
