2. I get virtually none
But, if it's happening to you, install the freeware from SpywareBlasters, Spybot, and, just to be on the safe side, Ad-Aware. You'll in a few seconds, you've murdered them all.

I've had virtually nothing slapped onto any hard drives since I went with Mozilla Firefox as my browser on all computers.

8. Spysweeper is the best
Spysweeper is the best. You can find it on sale for $20. Spybot Search and Destroy and Ad Aware are free and OK, but I've had some problems with spybot and ad aware doesn't find all the problems.

Beware, there are about 100 spyware programs on the net that pretend to be spyware removal programs. Many have names that are very similar to legitimate programs.

Also, stay away from questionable websites. The free game websites seem to be the worst for spyware. Download the newest updates for explorer and windows from microsoft. If you get a pop-up from a questionable source that asks you a yes or no question, using the X exit button instead of the no button. Sometimes the no button actually installs the spyware.

12. Yes, firefox, and also ZoneAlarm
I have anti virus and anti spy/ad ware. . . and they were always finding 50 or more a day of little problems. UNTIL I installed ZoneAlarm which literally lets you tell you puter which of your own programs is "allowed" online (you'd be surprised how many are imbedded to do automatic updates AND also sends your usage information to the company involved. It also allows blockage by default. IE if you don't say yes, the auto answer is NO.

Anyway, no when I run the adware programs and such, nothing, no offenders present since ZoneAlarm (by Norton, I think)
