Speakeasy! <--- Use this link and I'll get a referral fee! (And you pay no more - there used to be a discount too, but it seems to have been dropped...)

5. Not Impressed With Them At All
I just checked the link. Firstly, I can't stand any company that forces you to put personal information, especially when it is just to check if they offer the service in your area. Secondly, the price for DSL is still 50 a month and that is nothing to jump for joy about. Thirdly, the speed of 1.5 is 5 times slower than I have with cablevision.

I clicked on the link with hope but left with complete disappointment.

6. I like them because;
- Great reliability.

- I always get the upstream bandwidth I pay for.

- They allow me to run servers.

- Good usenet server.

- Wonderful customer service.

And at least in my area, cable will not let you run servers, and upstream bandwidth is slow at peak hours.

7. Oh ok. I've actually never had any bandwith problems. Mine is
lightning quick, but I still can't wait to get the Verizon Fios service. It sounds incredible!

8. I have 768Kbps upstream bandwidth, and use it.
I really couldn't do without, and with two fixed IP addresses I can run a zoned network here where I only expose one public address for servers which is different from the address all of the non-server machines NAT from.

4. for screaming broadband in SF Bay Area: etheric.net
Small co. started by dot-com winnings: They hold a socially progressive philiosophy. Every customer has a static IP and they allow "bursting" file xfers above your subscription level that makes work very pleasant. Etheric doesn't mind connection sharing - their support helps you set up routers etc. They're also not over cable: this is wireless broadband, high speed low drag. They serve Silicon Valley and the Sta Cruz mountains. http://www.etheric.net

9. There is only one ISP where I live and it's only dial up.
A few days ago I downloaded Filseclab Personal Firewall. Lots of denials so I decided to check them out with who is. Interestingly enough, yesterday Filseclab blocked 69.20.1.77. Went to the site, it is ferret.bls.census.gov.

CPS - A joint project between Bureau of Labor Statistics and Bureau of the Census.

It's a report on: Health Insurance Coverage Status and Type of Coverage for Poor People in the Poverty Universe.

Anyone have any idea why they would be attempting to access my computer? So is the monitoring of our computers being done by the Bureau of Labor Statistics? Bureau of Census?

Am I just being paranoid?
