A few weeks ago a person I have known for over 20 years
called me and I started to talk about the devastation in NO. He came back with a comment that those people don't want to work for a living. That was a bad mistake for him. I was not feeling well and I let loose on him about those people are in need of help and no fault of their own. Needless to say, he had to get off the phone.

Well today he stopped by our home. I immediately started discussing with him about what all this administration has been doing. I first started talking about what is going on in Iraq and how it has turned into a mess along with the B*shco building permanent bases there and the probability that we are going to remain there forever. He said that we should stay there and watch what they are doing. I asked why to protect B*shes oil reserves? He had no response.

Then I asked him how he felt about this administrations spying on its citizens. He said he didn't care because he was doing nothing wrong. I told him one of the FISA court Judges had resigned in disgust and the rest of them are going to investigate the actions that B@sh is doing illegally. I also stated that under the constitution B*sh does not have the authority to do what he has been doing. I went on to tell him that he should be concerned that his social security check maybe taken from him soon when we do not have enough money to fund this war.

Then my husband asked him if he would like to go to the protest Jan 31, 2006 with us to ask B@sh to step down. There was no answer to that one. I hope he is thinking about what we talked about. And maybe he will wake up to the facts.

Soon after we had this little talk he said he needed to go home and take his blood pressure pills.

3. I'm surprised he hasn't reported you to Operation TIPS

Anti-war demonstrations are considered potentially terrorist activities in Bush's America. Your kind need to be watched by Big Brother "for your own good." If the Stasi in East Germany could get neighbors to spy on each other, I'm sure our government could as well.

4. BTW, we are not *asking* bush to step down. We are demanding it.

I understand that is not the main point of the post(and the word "ask" may not have been intentional), but every chance i get i want to promote this action on the 31st and the follow-up on the 4th of February.

We can't wait for politicians to take action, we need to take action ourselves.

7. Excellent!
Is there a rally cry/information thread here on DU, Tom? I know we did this for the Cindy Sheehan vigil and it worked beautifully. All we really need to know is where to go, when and how to make sure we are counted!

5. We know. It's the irony that's hard to take.
It's so very difficult to go through. We here know how you feel.

Last night I watched a movie where the person doing the bookkeeping for her father's business, was pulling a stunt with the numbers. Her father had just died, and the mother was trying to convince the girl that the bookkeeper was doing a good job. In the end, she nailed him. He was robbing the business.

It's the irony. We know what's going on. But there are others who don't. And it's their unwillingness to open their minds to even think about an alternative truth that is what makes this so insidious.

It's so difficult that I try to avoid it. Unless one is totally armed with the facts, it's impossible.

I salute your bravery. We've had enough. It takes acts like yours to bring this around.

After all, there aren't many people today who would employ slaves. But it took a hell of a lot of fighting to get here.
