They all want to get the fuck out of DC and spend their millions with their families, enjoying Christmas in their warm weather and island condo's!!!

and it won't take that long cuz these bastards want to go on vacation!

And if it doesn't work, he can drop the whole thing at the last minute (or any time before the 31st) and come out with at least the same six month extention...and who knows maybe in six month's, they can plan another attack on the country, somewhere, and they can get it passed permanently like they want!

Fascist bastards!!!

9. The fascists *don't* want to extend the act.
They want to replace it with a Patriot Act II which will make the provisions *permanent.* In the Senate, the Democrats and several Republicans engineered the extension as a way of forestalling making the Act permanent.

for the House vote, which is in follow-up to the Senate Bill passing yesterday.....but they never showed up.....Now I know why.

Sensenbrenner has been working for months with the Democrats on a by-partisan "clean-up" of the Patriot Act. I don't see this as being an underhanded deal based on his prior work on the issue......I don't yet see his rationale for just one month extention......

Wait a minute.....Hold my horses........My brain was thinking Sununu.....this ashole is Sensenbrenner!!!!!!! Make note of my correction. :spank: :banghead:

12. He wants it to expire...
...so they can blame the Democrats. More "My way or the highway" bullshit. They have the nerve to say Democrats are playing politics. They are evil bullies. Yesterday I heard Leahy say Democrats wanted to extend it for more debate not to let it expire. That the issues involved were too important to just push thru. They are only talking about three or four items.

24. House passes a one-month extension of the Patriot Act
http://www.cnn.com/2005/POLITICS/12/22/patriot.act.ap/index.html

WASHINGTON (AP) -- The House passed a one-month extension of the Patriot Act on Thursday and sent it to the Senate for final action as Congress scrambled to prevent expiration of anti-terror law enforcement provisions on December 31.

Approval came on a voice vote in a nearly empty chamber, after Rep. James Sensenbrenner, R-Wisconsin, chairman of the House Judiciary Committee, refused to agree to a six-month extension the Senate cleared several hours earlier.

House passage marked the latest step in a stalemate that first pitted Republicans against Democrats in the Senate, then turned into an intramural GOP dispute.

It was not clear when the Senate would act on the one-month bill, but approval was possible by evening.

Without action by Congress, several provisions enacted in the days following the 2001 terror attacks are due to expire. President Bush has repeatedly called on Congress not to let that happen.

Anybody who left has to return to vote on the one month bill now.

Of course, Bush threatened last week to veto any extension that wasn't permanent. Unless he's going to flip-flop on that...

39. Just heard Bush would take the 1 month extension. This is BS, what
sort of intelligent debate can take place in less than 1 month (after you figure in the holiday break). So it will be right back to square one with the "must pass, must become permanent" crap-o-la. Gives Bushco one month for a media spin blitz. :eyes:

37. Was the house pissed at the Senate???
Some of the members of the House were on their way home & had to come back for this vote since the Senate did not pass the same bill as theirs. So maybe the house didn't want the senators to leave earlier then themselves either. Sounds like something I would do! haha Just speculating...

be canceled? Oh, the tragedy, the suffering, the agony for the repugs. There will be hell to pay for this.

Just heard that the House will be back in session Monday, December 26 if the Senate fails to pass the one month extension on the Patriotic Act. Sounds like the repugs are taking joy in pissing in each other's nests.

46. Why?
This was the only angle I could figure out--Bush just doesn't want to agree to anything brokered by the Dems. I heard on TV that that famous un-named White House official said Bush would only agree to a one-month extension. Why did they fight so hard against a three-month extension until the Senate negotiated a six-month extension and now they want a one-month extension? The House is not going into legislative session until January 26 (so Delay can get his court case cleared up and take back over) so how can any debate on the Patriot Act take place before February 3? I can't see any motive behind all this bargaining except nastiness from Bush and the Repugs.
