Re-framing the voting issue.. No more "outsourcing" of elections.
Edited on Thu Dec-22-05 05:41 PM by SoCalDem
The folks who run our elections love to remind us that elections are STATE & Local issues, so why on earth don't we take it one step further. Every community in the country has people who NEED jobs..Every community has printers who need the work, stationers who would love to sell more sharpies.

There are people who would welcome a job, canvassing neighborhoods to make sure everyone was registered..and then to work SMALL polling places so that counting & recording would not be the HUGE mess it has turned into recently.

By turning over the process to PRIVATE companies, the states & communities have outsourced (and paid a high price for it) elections.

The kicker is that even though they have paid fortunes for equipment that most people do not even understand, they have NO control over the software that runs it, and are at the mercy of "unseen hands" when it comes to counting the votes.

LOW tech is better when it comes to elections, and we should take it back from the companies that we have outsourced them to,

They can still operate our ATMs because we get receipts for transactions, and there are avenues of protest, if you have problems, but elections are like eggs..once you have scrambled the egg, you cannot change your mind and make it a sunnyside up..
