If Republicans takes 60 Senate seats and Majority Congress in '06...
Say good-by to Democracy, SSI, Pension, Medicaid, Medicare, Health care, womens right, Civil rights, they will further try to weaken Unions, America will be police states, etc... '06 is fight we must fight as if it was our last day on this earth! I am very scare thinking about this! I have been talking to as many people as I can about what will happen if Republicans takes total control. So far, people I've talk to, they're all in the agreement and will be voting for Dem's in '06.

1. People have seen what happens when there is one party rule
I've known people who have split their tickets because they didn't feel that the President and Congress should be from the same party. I've not talked to a lot of folks, though I'm sure I will when I go to Illinois for the holidays, but those I've talked with are mad and won't vote Republican and are even ready to march to take back our country.

2. I've already said goodbye to Democracy...
the * White House is doing what it damned well pleases with impunity...I'm looking forward to saying "hello" to democracy again with the election of Democrats. But, you are correct, if the Repigs get enough votes to block filibusters and have a majority in U.S. House...the last nail in the coffin of democracy will be driven home.

3. I agree, but...
If you're going to go out and try to bring over some fencesitters, that is great. But what would help is some rational arguments as to why they should vote Democratic. Point out the facts, such as this administrations opposition to affirmative action in the Univ. of Michigan case, or the likelihood of another Supreme Court seat opening up before 2008, ANWR coming up for a vote again, the same-sex marriage amendment, etc...

I show tell them the links or show them the paper. I always tell people to do the homework and they seems to listen.

10. I agree, but....
Tarc,
I'm not so sure that's necessary, or even desirable.

Joe Sixpack may not give a damn about ANWR or UofM or SCOTUS issues, but most ordinary folks understand that things are out of whack. There's a general sense that it's time to bring in some more Dems if only to balance things out. Especially when the office Freepers are so loud-mouthed and obnoxious that everyone else is reluctant to say a word about politics for fear of getting a swiftboat full of B.S. shoved down their throats.

"Yeah, me too," I'll say, "I'm getting really sick of all the angry political ranting."
"Things have just gotten so out of wack that next election I'm going to vote a straight Democratic ticket, just for the sake of restoring the Balance of Power."

Anyway, that's the line I've taken in water-cooler discussion, and it seems to be sinking in.

4. Right now, they can't take anything without election fraud.
Where is this burst of hysteria coming from?

Go read some state polling.

8. I know, that is what I'm afraid of the most, Diebold machines.
Without machines, I have no doubt, we will take both congress and Senate.

7. If that happens we will know the elections were crooked!
I will regretfully become a refugee and emigrate. I have enough problems sticking it out now, I couldn't take another defeat, legitimate or otherwise. I have fought these guys hard since Reagan and eventually one has to realize when a cause is lost.

9. And if there's a computer glitch that launches Russia's nukes...
...we're all dead.

Which is about as likely as the scenario you present.

The question now is how many seats the GOP will lose next November -- will it be enough to give us control of one or even both houses of Congress. The chance that, on the contrary, Republicans will gain enough seats to have a filibuster-proof majority is so unlikely, it's not worth losing sleep over.
