Graham's "Impeachment" Remarks: |
|
"I believe he (Bush) is being deceitful. There has been a pattern of withholding from the American people information that they have a right to know....."
"The Republicans set a standard of impeachment with what they did with Bill Clinton, who committed a serious, consensual action. If the standard that was set by the House of Rep relative to Bill Clinton is the new standard for impeachment, then this clearly comes within that standard." Graham went on to say, "I think this is clearly more serious. This goes more to the responsibility to the office of president as opposed to personal consensual relationship and there cannot be anything more serious than war and if in fact we went to war under false pretenses then that is a very serious charge."

Graham is a deliberate, cautious and thoughtful man. This statement is uncharactistic of him. I admire this person and hope that he can defend what he is saying because this will create a firestorm!

That impeachement of Clinton looks downright SILLY compared with the situation at hand.
Just think about it.
He's RIGHT on target IMO. He's been inching toward such a statement over the last few days I've noticed.
I think it says a lot coming from him - presidential candidate or not. Even if their votes don't count, the people of Florida really respect this guy. :)

13. Here's one Florida voter |
|
for Graham. Been saying from the beginning - he is the man. He knows more than anyone else what has been going on but couldn't say anything as yet. Now, with the 911 report coming out...well - who knows what he will be able to say. He is also a leader which he has proven so many times. He is for the people and he will stand up for us against any and all that comes from the Right. Go Bob!

I'm floored. Welcome to the Graham-crackers!!! I'm one too. Seems I chose early and right. Graham and Clark are my two guys! Though if Clark runs, I want him at the top of the ticket.

Glad to see Florida's own FINALLY getting some much needed attention!!!
He appeals to BOTH LIBERALS AND CONSERVATIVES and surely would get enough repuke's to vote for him AND BYE BYE DUMBYA!

governor when I lived in FL and from what I knew then and believe now is a guy with complete integrity. Been on the Intel committee for a long time. Unless he's flipped his wig, I think he wouldn't dare to publicly talk about impeachment unless he has something or someone hidden until the right moment. (Maybe I hope it more than believe it...but...)

7. I think he knows some 9/11 inside stuff on Smirk |
|
and the rest of the thugs. It's been bugging him.
That knowledge, coupled with the Iraq/WMD/uranium mess, has pushed him to say what he said: Impeachment.

He is somewhat conservative but very thoughtful. He is much loved and respected in Florida. This really means something coming from him!

So is this the Goldwater signal |
|
to Bush that it's time to go? Well, okay, not such a good analogy since Graham's not a conservative repug. But it could be a message of "resign now or I tell all." I'd advise Sen. Graham to stay away from small planes......

He's keeping the SOTU/Invasion story alive for another cycle. I don't know how the mainstream press will play this (front page or A13), but they HAVE TO PLAY IT! Rove can't just make this go away because Blair is in town, or the new press sec. says they've already covered that. I'm hoping that he's the featured guest on at least one of Sunday's talk shows (if not with Katie in the a.m.).

When we went to war in Iraq, nobody honestly thought that the US would get their asses handed to them. It was a sure thing. But a lot of people had a problem: what happens after we win?
That's where the disaster was waiting for us.
Same thing in case of an impeachment.
Even if it was a sure thing, even if we were guaranteed that Bush would get tossed to the curb... who's our President then? CHENEY, for Christsakes? That's like saying, "You know what, Hitler? You're a bad leader, get the f*** out of office. Now, let's see... it seems the next in line for position of leader is... Lucifer, the Lord of Darkness. Well, that's certainly not an improvement."
You'd have to get rid of both of them. And even then, you're stuck with Dennis Hastert.

18. If Bush ends up going Cheney will have gone first. |
|
All roads lead to Cheney right now. To get to Bush they have to go through Cheney.
Can you say President Powell? It's a longshot but not inconceivable.

. . .and i'm not disagreeing with you Gumbo, it doesn't matter who goes first.
Once the prez is damaged goods, everyone in the adminstration is toast. Look at Ford. He got fairly soundly beat by Jimmy Carter and hardly anyone knew who he was.
He got tarred by Nixon, and when Nixon left in disgrace, Ford was done. I always thought that was why Ford pardoned Nixon. He had nothing to lose. He knew he wasn't going to win in '76 anyway. So, he fell on his sword and left a legacy. Had he not done the pardon, he would have been forgotten.
So, even if Cheney doesn't take the fall, if this thing tars Bush as an imperialistic liar, the whole group of them gets tarred.
