"Abizaid Bans Criticizing Rumsfeld, Admits Guerrilla War"

QUOTE
The new commander of the U.S. occupation forces in Iraq warned Wednesday, July16 , that any soldier who criticized U.S. Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld would face “possible verbal reprimand or something more stringent” from his commanders, as he admitted that these troops face “guerrilla” war in Iraq.

1. In the meantime
more troops came out of the cold
and critized on CNN

There is a saying and Abizaid will
soon learn it.

He can give orders but if the troops
refuse to follow...

Yes that is really bad for good order
and discipline, but we are in one of those
situations.

4. I believe the internet will allow disenchanted military wives to have

their say before country and congress.

I know from experience, that nothing is more deadly than a group of organized military wives whose husbands are in harms way.

We on DU need to offer them every possible assistance in getting themselves organized via the internet so that they can focus their laser power on congress.

I suggest that all DUers, actively seek out military wives mentioned in local papers and offer to help them use the internet to bring their loved ones home from the debacle in Iraq and Afghanistan.

2. Now do you think that will work?
Just tell me I can't do something... I always have that thought in the back of my mind and it just gets bigger and bigger....Compound that with emotional misery.....I bet we hear more.

3. I think Rumsfeld insisted that the general say this
But I think the announcement will increase bitterness and low morale. This announcement makes life very difficult for the officers who are caught in the middle between the soldiers with legitimate complaints and the top brass.

Who wants to bet that the military votes won't get counted in 2004?

7. I've heard that some soldiers have committed suicide
I think it was Bernie Ward or a caller to his show on KGO who said that about five or six soldiers so far have done so. I believe we will hear a lot more suicides. That is so sad.

8. I believe you are correct. We need to help military wives get organized
They'll kick AWOL's ass from here to kingdom come and they speak with authority which no other group commands.

That could be the best grassroots effort in the country if military wives coule just talk to each other via the internet.
