Now that Gephardt's ahead in Iowa, Fox News |
|
keeps speaking of Dean's lead in New Hampshire and now shows Dean's ad free every hour in the form of news from the embedd.
Dean is the only Dem canditate who gets his ad shown free on Fox.
Why?

1. I have noticed the same type of thing |
|
On the AP yahoo presidential elections page.
There was a poll last week that showed Dean's lead at 6 points in NH, then a short time later the story was changed to a different poll and the headline was changed as well to, "Dean leads by 14 in NH poll"
It was very odd.
Also, in general the coverage is Dean centric and by and large positive on this yahoo presidential elections page.

show it a statistical dead heat. Gep 27% Dean 26%.
That being aside, the Dean camp is apparently good at giving the press the bits they need to keep him on the front page. It is called campaigning.
The press goes where ever the sensational news bit is found easiest. Even Fox has the "lazy" bias.

3. Dean camp certainly seems to |
|
have an inside track on Fox.
The media can create sensational news, and they can obviously make a candidate look like a winner if it suits an agenda.

He helps sell newspapers and attract viewers.
There's also the political calculus. If Gephardt wins Iowa, what happens next for him? Your second and third wins are the most important.

So the GOP propaganda machine is pushing Dean. Similar to the GOP paying for Nader's campaign ads last time around.

Just saw Brit Hume trying to prop up Gep as "express train" to take out Dean. Didn't we just have an article from WaPo pushing the Gep is the one we fear meme?

16. Why are the propping up Gep? |
|
Because they want people to perceive him (not Clark) as the one who can stop Dean. They are trying to improve Gep's support in the South because they don't want it to come down to a Dean/Clark race.

For the corporate media, what's not to love about a Democrat that trashes the other Dems as much as they do?

12. They're pushing Dean because |
|
Dean can't beat Bush. And all of us Deanies are too dumb to realize we're being played. If we were smart we would abandon Dean and get behind Kerry or Clark, because they are real soldiers and Bush isn't. And of course we all know how much the American people care about military service. That's why they elected Clinton twice.

The numbers I've seen show Dean doing as well or better than Kerry, Clark etc. head to head against Bush.
Dean is the frontrunner and is generating all of the news; Clark is polling at a pathetic 6% in NH and clearly isn't a newsworthy story, for instance.
Yes, Fox News sucks, but you guys are reading too much into this, blinded by your hatred of Dean.

13. Another example from Yahoo AP |
|
page. On Friday, Gephardt was endorsed by the International Longshoremans' Association, a 60,000 member AFl-CIO union that is well known. It was the 20th major union to back Gephardt.
Yet there was no coverage about it on this presidential elections page.
But an earlier story on Wednesday about Dean getting his very first union endorsement from the International union of Painters which won't be announced until Monday of the next week, was faithfully reported.
It will even be a two-fer, because I am sure a new story will be reported on Monday when the endorsement is actually given.

let me know when they either
a) say something positive about Dean, or b) say something bad about Bush.
They think Dean's add show him "going negative". The coverage I saw said that he was breaking his pledge not go to negative. Fox talks a lot about Dean, but the coverage is never flattering or good.
