Could FOX be making some moves to the left?
Events at FOX over the last few weeks have been mind-boggling.
They are talking about BBV and the need for a voter trail. They are giving good debate. Actually treating the Dems with some respect.

CNN's Judy Woodruff was a disaster at the last debate. FOX made sure not to treat the Dems the way she did.

Methinks Murdoch may be having second thoughts about Bush.

After all, its just good business to position yourself strategically as the Company corners BushCo. Murdoch knows who the winners and losers will be.

And Bush is a sure loser.

1. I've seen it too
Less shrill attacks from some of the anchors. Still some, mind you, but not near as many as there were during the war, for example.

2. Maybe they've been embarrassed too many times lately
there was the stupid lawsuite against Al Franken. They realized that caving into O'Really was not very smart and made them a laughing stock.

then they threatened to sue the Simpsons for their paradoy of Faux News complete with crawler. (They thought viewers would get confused.)

Nah... on second thought, I'm giving them too much credit. They are reactionaries, not sentient beings.

4. they have hosted the Congressional Black Caucus twice
Are they trying to develop a loyal brand of black viewers? They have always voted Democratic. I don't mean to say that Blacks ARE OBLIGATED to vote Democratic. It is just that Black have traditionally voted Democratic.

And then after all the debates, they will say how much the Democratic Party has betrayed blacks.

But that's just my conspiracy theory.

21. Fox Debates Though Are Much Better than the CNN Debates
even Carl Cameron asked decent questions, not too much spin, considering.

Judy Woodruff was frightening, and talk about angry....

7. Well, if so
he has an awful lot of employees to fire and hire. :) He does hire only RW journalists who promise to spew his RW rhetoric. I can't imagine FAUX news changing. They did have another debate where LaRouche supporters heckled our Dems. Remember? Nah! They will never change.

Just like that Bush and his cabal will show themselves so so human. That will be the theme for the Republicans for the 04 elections.
I don't watch Faux and would only believe Faux if its a Democrat talking.

10. I don't think that's it.
They are now THE right-wing cable network. Maybe they thought people wouldn't noticed, but once you lose your "objectivity" with the American people you're going to have a hard time getting it back. I think it's damage control.

14. Respectfully disagree
The questions were presented softly but they still carried all the right wing talking points.

for instance: "Candidate X, the rap on you is that you still beat your wife and eat puppies for dinner...how do you respond to that?"

I found it to be the same old BS ... and just another way of marginalizing each and every one of our candidates.

Same S**t, different debate..........

Know what I mean? I don't trust FOX News at all. If they want to pull something slimy, they'll do it when it matters. Don't put your arm around the schoolyard bully just yet.

19. Fox News Watch is actually pretty good - they bitched about how no-one
covered Gore's speech a few months ago. Heard them skewer Fox (their own network) a few times even. I think that that show is so hidden away that no-one (including Murdoch) knows it's around. If it was more out in the open I think Murdock would have axed it a long time ago...

24. FNS is shrewd but still total GOP propaganda...
I've noticed they've been giving more air time to Dems recently. But to me it is very obvious what they are doing. They are presenting the Dem candidates, liberal voices, etc in order to craft and shape these stories. When Tony Snow or Brett Hume comment about the Dem candidates they always slip in dismissive patronizing comments. FNS is totally untrustworthy. They know full well it is much smarter to carry and control the opposition rather than completely ignore it. Yet they are total pigs on almost every story I see them cover. One good example is the gay priest (Robinson I think). His personal story is very moving. He is of the highest ethics and integrity. His family, collegues, and fellow Reverends totally respect him. Yet every freaking time FOX carries the story they focus on bullshit sexual lies. They were the leading network to try and hype up the last minute Right-Wing smear campaign against the Reverend (which turned out to be totally false). This type of stuff is unforgivable, yet FOX does it 24/7. They are total pigs.

25. I would have to say no. Living in the city that hosted the debates,
one would think that the regular Fox channel would break into regular programming to allow for airing of the debates as a special broadcast. It was being held in their city after all. Did they? Nope. We went to a rally, and then to a bar that was supposed to air it and...nothing. They didn't carry the Fox news channel, and I guess the Simpsons were way to important. :eyes:

27. I saw the story on the voting machines on FOX...
...the other night - it was amazingly objective. After that they had a pretty reasoned debate about the Democratic field. It was like their whole value system had been inverted for a second. And yeah, that fuckin' Judy Woodruff is a fluff-head - she has no business doing something that important. She tried pure political stuff (no substance ) during the Gore-Bradely debates.
