Lieberman makes my skin crawl
there, I said it. I would like to say more; perhaps name-calling and obscenities.....huhhhh.
When I look and listen to this man I feel the same way I do about chimpy. Where does he get off saying he's a Democrat? I would really like someone to explain this to me. Because he's Jewish? Because he was second on the ticket with Gore? Apprarently the Gore partnership was his moment of glory, he refers to it enough.
You know what? Gore probably would have beaten chimpy without question if he'd had a stronger VP. Can't help but to say it.
I don't want to offend Lieberman supporters (if there are any here) but the guy give Democrats a bad name. I am embarrassed and disgusted by his arrogance and feigned comraderie.
How can we get rid of him? NOW???

1. Because he is a democrat...
...his voting record under Bush has been less than stellar, but on many critical issues, he's been a Democrat, moreso than say an Evan Bayh <sp> or Zell Miller. Many Senators have been too eager to vote with Bush far too often, but Lieberman is a Democrat.

Now, should he have been Gore's VP? No.
Is he a weak candidate? Absolutely.
Do I sould like Don Rumsfeld? You'd be a fool to think otherwise.

I don't know why Joe is bothering either, and I think he does us a great disservice. But he's a Democrat.

3. That's really funny
A Clark supporter asking where Joseph Lieberman gets off saying he's a Democrat. Somebody should contact Alanis Morisette and let her know that we've found a good example of actual irony. Lieberman was working for Democratic causes and issues when Clark was still voting for Reagan.

Clark can certainly call himself a Democrat. He has every right. Joseph Lieberman IS a Democrat and any thinking person who examined his long and distinguished record of service to this country and Democratic/Liberal causes over the past few DECADES would have no choice but to agree.

5. Who said I'm a Lieberman supporter?
I suppose that I am a Lieberman defender against those who would unfairly libel him without recourse to a single fact. You want me to get a clue? Why don't you dig up some facts in support of your attack on Senator Lieberman and provide me with a clue. Or are ad hominem attacks all you are capable of?

7. Sorry
it just sounded that way. The man is a hawk - he supported the war with Iraq. His allegiance lies with Israel. That's all I need to know, and I don't need sources.

20. Facts? I don't need no stinkin' facts!!
Did I get the gist of your post? those damned dual-loyalty Jews!!!

What's that you say? A Senate resolution passed in the Senate 94 to 2 with ONLY 2 Democrats voting in opposition? that damned mind-controlling Lieberman, turning all of these good Democrats into mindless Likudnik zombies:

Akaka (D-HI)
Baucus (D-MT)
Bayh (D-IN)
Biden (D-DE)
Bingaman (D-NM)
Boxer (D-CA)
Breaux (D-LA)
Cantwell (D-WA)
Carnahan (D-MO)
Carper (D-DE)
Cleland (D-GA)
Clinton (D-NY)
Conrad (D-ND)
Corzine (D-NJ)
Daschle (D-SD)
Dayton (D-MN)
Dodd (D-CT)
Dorgan (D-ND)
Durbin (D-IL)
Edwards (D-NC)
Feingold (D-WI)

Feinstein (D-CA)
Graham (D-FL)
Harkin (D-IA)
Inouye (D-HI)
Johnson (D-SD)
Kennedy (D-MA)
Kerry (D-MA)

Kohl (D-WI)
Landrieu (D-LA)
Leahy (D-VT)
Levin (D-MI)
Lieberman (D-CT)
Lincoln (D-AR)
Mikulski (D-MD)
Miller (D-GA)
Murray (D-WA)
Nelson (D-FL)
Nelson (D-NE)
Reed (D-RI)
Reid (D-NV)
Rockefeller (D-WV)
Sarbanes (D-MD)
Schumer (D-NY)
Stabenow (D-MI)
Wellstone (D-MN)
Wyden (D-OR)

Or are they also AIPAC stooges? We may never know . . .

Kerry supported the war and has consistantly supported Israel. Same goes for Clinton. And Edwards. Do they make your skin crawl too or is there something different about Lieberman?

A stronger pro-Israel resolution passed in the House. Among Democrats, the vote was 157 to 17 in favor. Likudnik tools like Jackson-Lee, Rangel, Gephardt, Kennedy, Pelosi and Sanchez were among the Democrats who voted for the resolution. Do they make your skin crawl as well? Is that all you need to know about them? Some of them supported the war. What obscenities would you like to hurl in their direction?

http://clerk.house.gov/cgi-bin/vote.exe?year=2002&rollnumber=126

http://www.senate.gov/legislative/LIS/roll_call_lists/roll_call_vote_cfm.cfm?congress=107&session=2&vote=00102

Does their allegiance lie with Israel? Would you like to level the charge of disloyalty against all of them as well? Or maybe it's more than just Lieberman's voting record that bothers you.

21. Lieberman was perceived as the defacto leader after 2000
Edited on Mon Oct-27-03 02:04 AM by Classical_Liberal
so yes, I think he is in large part responsible for rolling over for Bush on the part of most of the Democrats, on most issues including foriegn policy, the tax cuts, and Enron.

22. OK
It's more than just Lieberman's voting record. It's the man himself. Can't help it; he's not presidential material. I thank you for the rebuttal but sometimes it's just intuition.

19. Fine, here is a fact
Holy Joe was the first Democrat to sell out Bill Clinton over a little blow job. But he supports Bush over his world wide blow up job. Lieberman is a self-aggrandizing turd.

8. Lieberman is a free spirit.
If the political climate is to the left, his spirit feels free to be left. If the climate is to the right, his spirit feels free to be right. The rest of the time his spirit feels free to be a DNC/DLC lackey.

12. Wow, that's actually the exact OPPOSITE of what is true
Even Lieberman's harshest critics who are the least bit honest admit that he is someone that takes politically difficult stances and sticks to his positions. I think that your post may be a pretty good example of projection.

That being said he's becoming increasingly shrill in this campaign...

13. don't mean to be nosy but....
what are the party loyalties of most Jewish people here in the US? I know that Wolfowitz is Jewish, and he most probably is a republican. I have always gone on the assumption that the Jews are staunch republicans. No?

Or is it Democratic?

15. I would say
that most Jewish folk I know are Democrats. But when religion merges with politics, all bets are off. That's what we've got here, if no one knows it yet. It's the Christians/Jews against Muslims. That's what it's all about.

as representative of the Jewish vote, if it could be categorized. Wolfowitz and Perle are neo-conservative Republicans, the old Republican party was not as friendly.

17. They are overwhelmingly Democratic
Of the nine Jewish senators in the US Senate only Arlen Specter is a Republican. Democrats routinely get 3 out of 4 Jewish votes and did much better than that in 2000 for obvious reasons.

18. Lieberman
has a stellar record, and for decades, on issues that Democrats at least supposedly care about. He sponsered, as CT Senate Majority Leader, a gay rights bill in the 1970's. He registered blacks to vote in the 1960's. Has been a staunch supporter of women's rights and a true enviromentalist. And he has done this for decades. His current campaign is a mess of that there is no doubt. But he is certainly at least as reasonable in calling himself a Democrat as Clark is.

26. what has he done for us lately?
He is from the other side of the party, and thus not a favorite of those from the socialist wing of the Democratic party. Lieberman seems to spend more time attacking the Wellstone wing of the Democratic party than he does attacking the repubo-fascists. Which side is he on? If he is on the side of the workers, he should attack management and not the union.
Clark may not have Lieberman's history, and, like myself, he may have voted for Reagan, but he seems to know which side he is on now.

I went to Lieberman's website and read some of his e-book. It seems pretty good (and with some good attacks at Bush's integrity). I appreciate his tax-cut position (reverse the Bush tax cut for the top two brackets) which seems like less of a sell-out than Kerry's and more electable than Dean's.

We all know what they say about it, but remember who was among the final four choices for Gore's VP? It's hard to imagine that things wouldn't have been different if the ticket had been Gore/Edwards.
