Brown's supporters launch revenge attack and label Blair a 'psychopath'
By Andrew Grice Political Editor
18 July 2003

Supporters of the Chancellor, Gordon Brown, have launched an extraordinary attack on Tony Blair, portraying him as a "psychopath" and "psychotic".

Blair loyalists are furious about a string of hostile articles about the Prime Minister in the current edition of New Statesman magazine, which is owned by Geoffrey Robinson, a former Treasury minister and a close ally of Mr Brown.

The strong language was seen in the Blair camp as a "revenge attack" for a previous sideswipe at Mr Brown by a Blair aide who described the Chancellor as having "psychological flaws".

In a leading article, New Statesman makes the case for Mr Brown to take over from Mr Blair in 2005, and suggests that this date - not Labour's 1997 election victory - may prove "the radical watershed of our age".

I changed the title though in case DUers didn't get the reference.

Explanation to confused viewers: My original title was "Brownies launch attack on Blair for leadership of Labour"

3. That he suffers from delusions on a grand scale,
there is little doubt...I can see him muttering in the halls of the loony bin, "We will find the WMDs, We will find the WMDs"...Understand someone, a previous weapons inspector who was prepared to give damning evidence as to the validity of Blair's intelligence, has gone missing, and an unidentified body has just been fished out of the Thames.

4. I've heard that too
It's weird to see the Guardian's and the Indepent's home pages juxtaposing the stories of Blair's address to Congress and the Kelly affair. It's like something out of that creepy BBC-Masterpiece Theater saga of a few years ago, starring Ian Richardson as a conniving MP cum PM, "House of Cards."

Note: Blair should be presumed innocent of having Kelly suicided until proven guilty.

5. Blair is scum
I don't know about being a psychopath, but he is total scum in my eyes. He has aligned himself with the most reactionary elements in the U.S. If "New Labour" doesn't get rid of him, the British people will.

6. Delusions of grandeur - Blair saves the world
I don't have a link, but a few days ago there was a story about Blair's plan for Britain to pre-emptively invade any country with oppressive dictators (the plan was, of course, pre-emptively nixed by sounder minds).
