Trick Question??!!!
My wife and I nearly fell out of our chairs when we watched a replay of Bush refusing to answer a question about troop reduction in Iraq because it was a "trick question." Huh?

He looked so awkward, so frightened, so out of his depth when he uttered that absurdity. What a low-point in this great nation's history that was. What a disgrace to the office this fraud is. Keith Olberman, on whose show we saw this replay, could barely contain his disgust.

And this idiot still has supporters. Unbelievable.

1. What happened?
I must have missed that. Do you have any links to stories on the question that was asked of him and his "trick question" answer???

It's the lead-in to naming NSA Dr. Condoleezza Rice, PhD as the adminstration's "unsticker". She must be so proud.

QUESTION: Thank you, Mr. President.

You recently put Condoleezza Rice, your national security adviser, in charge of the management of the administration's Iraq policy. What has effectively changed since she's been in charge?

And a second question: Can you promise a year from now that you will have reduced the number of troops in Iraq?

BUSH: The second question is a trick question, so I won't answer it.

The first question was Condoleezza Rice. Her job is to coordinate inter-agency. She's doing a fine job of coordinating inter-agency. She's doing what her -- I mean, the role of the national security adviser is to not only provide good advice to the president, which she does on a regular basis -- I value her judgment and her intelligence -- but her job is also to deal inter-agency and to help unstick things that may get stuck. That's the best way to put it. She's an unsticker...

Got arrogance? :grr:

Why do people still support this asshole jerkoff...

Oh yeah... 9/11.

19. This question is...
...most likely one that everyone, both Liberal and Conservative, would like an answer to. So how does the general public feel knowing that the question they would have asked Bush, was a trick question????? But then that would require that the general public actually listen...and think...so....

5. yup
I believe he used that "argument" before.

Let's not forget, this is coming from a man who hates doing press conferences (and for good reason) and has tried to avoid them the best he could.

He needs to be wrist slapped for remarks like that, but if the press is not going to do it, then who?

The cover looks awfully damning to dumbya! Finally, a cover story of the cronyism in bushco.

13. Last night Mike Malloy interpreted it as...
Bush getting that message whispered to him in an ear piece. And he just repeated it almost verbatum. "Psssst... don't answer that. It's a trick question." So, in his stupidity, he blurts it out.

Who knows, but in retrospect, it sure sounds plausible.

He probably has to be warned constantly that any question asking for a promise is a dirty trick...trapping him into a "read my lips" situation! What an ass!

17. of course it's a trick
and it's also an unanswerable question. No one can know what life will look like in Iraq in 12 months. That should have been the answer. Claiming it's a trick makes you look dumn, outfoxing the trick is much smarter. right, like that would happen. Bush knows he can't go on the record for something that can actually be poroven wrong, so unable to bs like his predecessors, he simply ducks.

18. C'mon- he's reducing the number of American troops every day.
I have friendly/familial connections to two of them myself. They got to leave Iraq less than a month after Baghdad fell, in fact. They came home in boxes, but hey.

22. I Don't Watch Too Much TV, but Olbermann Seems OK
In the little that I watch TV, I have developed some positive perceptions of Keith Olbermann. I would have loved to have seen his reaction to Bush's "trick question" remark.

Is there any "more experienced" newswatchers who can anyone disabuse me of my positive regard for Olbermann? Can anyone elaborate on his response to Smirk?
