This is about Dean's fundraising and whatnot.

I think Dean is doing great with this.

3. Thanks! I liked the part about
"There's a calculation behind that example. Bush is expected to end up raising an astonishing $200 million. For Dean, 2 million contributions at $100 each would equal $200 million. Trippi says, "I really believe there are 2 million Americans who will give $100 to get rid of George W. Bush."

6. Hell, if the 50,000,000 people that voted for Gore each..
gave $5, that would be $250,000,000 -- why
the hell can't we do that.

Video games like Starcraft, Halo, and Warcraft
raise billions....

If we put our mind to it, it shouldn't be hard to
do.

I like how the Dean campaign is thinking about this.

9. Yes! When we get our finale candidate
we should start a campaign for a Mass Small donation Drive for the Democratic candidate. Sort of a pre vote with Money!~

12. "shop to drop bush" is designed to do exactly that.
You don't even have to donate $5. Just spend about $100 at the merchants we list, and they send us back $5 for driving you to their sites.

If ten people do that, we have $50 for the dem nominee. If 100 people do it $500 - 10,000 people makes $50,000.

If those Gore voters all bought through us - $250,000,000 at the previous poster said.

the site exists. Just visit it, join the email list to get reminders, and tell a few friends. And they tell a few friends....

It's nice to see that not everybody here have gone too negative on the other candidates.:hi:

10. Yeah, I have to admit I have picked on Dean from time to time...
but everytime I do it, it's when I have a coupla
beers and the Clark Bashers get the best of
me. I consider them weak moments. ;)

I met Dean the other night and I really liked his
spirit. Along with Clark, he riled us up in a Detroit
Bar. It was great.

8. Maybe Trippi is the Democrat's Rove - he might be just as talented
if not more. (No offense meant to Trippi - I only mean that he's as smart and as talented - NOT as creepy.)

20. Well lets hope. We could use some talented consultants in the Dem Party.
getting tired of getting beat up by Rove.

I'd love to hear more about Trippi btw.

14. I like these numbers....
How does the Dean campaign do it? Answer: the Internet. Dean raised $7.4 million—half his total—on the Internet in the third quarter. By comparison, Bush raised about $1.5 million on the Internet, or about 3 percent of his total. "My campaign is about empowering people," Dean says. And the Internet is how he does it. Trippi says, "There's only one medium in the world that allows 2 million Americans to contribute $100 in one day if they decide to do it. And that's the Internet."

15. I gotta say, without the guys from MoveOn
It never would have come together. We all owe them a huge debt of gratitude for spending their time to educate and create this powerful tool when no one else would listen to them about the internet and politics.

Thanks, Wes, Thanks Eli, and Thanks Joan. It was really due to them that this campaign became the machine we know today.

16. I didn't realize that Schnieder was associated with AEI.
While he tries to be objective and analytical on CNN, that little bit of rightward drift sort of sneaks in. Thus giving 'more credibility' to his objective sounding prognostications. But there, down at the bottom of the essay, are his "credentials". Gives more clarity, indeed.

But that is a side comment - I haven't yet read the full article - so can't comment on the content, yet.

21. I don't know if he "tries"
all that hard to be objective sometimes. When I catch him on inside politics with Judy the-worst-debate-moderator-ever Woodruff I marvel most times.

I also suspect Bill Schnieder of being less clever than he thinks he is.

17. Kudos to the Clarkies for showing class...
...by congratulating another candidate's campaign.

It just goes to show, when you're secure enough in your candidate, you don't have to be in the attack mode 24/7.

A toast to you and your fine General! :toast:

18. Also...
It's a shame your examples of good sportsmanship are being sent quickly to the DU nether-regions as a result of multiple examples of quite the opposite: Some fool spamming the forum with hatred toward a particular candidate.

Here's another article about Dean's effectiveness as a campaigner.

The Persistence of Howard Dean
ANALYSIS
By Tom Curry
MSNBC

WASHINGTON, Oct. 28 — A little over a year ago, on Oct. 6, 2002, I met Howard Dean for the first time at a coffee shop in Denver. Dean, in between visits to Iowa, was stopping in Colorado to campaign for Democratic Senate candidate Tom Strickland. What stood out in our hourlong talk that day was his absolute self-assurance and bristling combativeness toward George W. Bush. “I’m tired of my party being bullied by the right wing,” he said that day...
