'You Guys are living next door to the Simpsons," Molly Ivins on NWI TV.
Did anyone catch this on Canadian News World International? It was on Hot Type, a program on that Canadian station that I can get on satellite. A great interview. She says things you would never hear on American News TV. She brought up how George Bush doesn't get anything to stick to him because the media doesn't question or criticize him. She spoke of the right wing media attack of the prosecutors for every little thing that Clinton had in his background. She called Ann Coulter a member of a right wing cult. (She stopped short of calling the cult Nazi).

I wish I could remember more. I went to the website, but I guess they don't put up transcripts. The interviewer said how Canadians are amazed that anyone would give Bush any money to run again and yet he has two million dollars. This is when Molly uttered her classic line, which was my headline, "You guys are living next door to the Simpsons."

If anyone else saw this please post the parts I miss. I hope they run it again and if you can get NWI please post here.

1. I didnt catch it but.....
I just finished her book. I was very informative. She seems to be well grounded as a person and writer. Her co-author(cant remember his name dammit) I am sure deserves some attention. She was also on Morning Edition on NPR today. Look up that interview. Not as hard hitting but fun just the same. :smoke:

2. I can't get NPR.
I'm just beyond the range in my area, so either it's very scratchy on a good day or not at all. :-(

10. Great interview although not as hard hitting as the Canadian one.
I also remembered her talking at length about the poor people that our administration's domestic policies are causing. She also was able to back up everything she said with hard facts.

6. Being one of the neighbours Molly is referring to....
I agree, with one difference, the Simpsons are harmless, Bush & Co aren't.

9. I think she was referring to the freepers who voted for him
and who still support him. No Bush & Co. aren't harmless by any means.

11. Yes, I saw that yesterday afternoon
I'm wondering if they'll repeat it. Hot Type is a great show and the host gave it a great recommendation after the interview. We're lucky to have NWI. You know that's the station that Gore and his people are planning to purchase. I'm glad they're buying a station but I'll be sad to see News World International go.

12. Interesting.
I wonder why Gore and his people think it's necessary to broadcast from Canada? I hope they do. Since they are left of the dial, I don't think it will change the format of the station and it might give them a better budget to expand their coverage.

14. They have the show scheduled on Saturday, Nov. 1st
at 8:30PM. Whether it is the Ivins interview, they don't say. I hope so.

13. I think Dubya's finally used up every last bit of tolerance
Molly has. No matter how squirrelly or nasty, she's always reserved a genuine bit of fondness for every politician. But the chimp has been a torrent of vileness and it may be wearing her down.

But, onward. So George Dubya becomes President, having run as a "compassionate conservative," and what do we get? Hell's own conservative and dick for compassion.

15. Hot Type is one of the best shows on NWI..............

The host of the show, Evan Solomon is a good interviewer, he's never afraid to challenge his guests and usually has great writers on the show.......
