Book recommendations
Alright, I'm ready for a new book. The library has me on the list for "Lies" and "Dude" but not my turn yet. Also, they don't have "Unravelling". I'd have to get it from another branch. I did ask them to get "Wealth and Democracy, A History of the American Rich". Any thoughts on that? How about The Clinton Wars or The Emerging Democratic Majority? I've also heard talk on here about The Gospel of St. Thomas which I'm interested in. Was there a specific book about this you liked? Thanks.

1. "Bushwhacked" by Molly Ivins
A devestating look at the damage Bush's policies are doing...by how they're impacting ordinary Americans.

4. Elaine Pagels: The Gnostic Gospels
I think that's the Thomas gospel book you must be referring to. I haven't read it yet, but my wife loves it, and as I recall, several folks here loved it, based on a thread from a week or so back.

7. "Defying Hitler" by Sebastian Haffner.
A memoir by a guy who was in his early twenties when Hitler came to power. The parallels to today are hair-raising, and this guy wrote it during the time he lived it, so it stands separate from today's times.

9. What Liberal Media by Eric Alterman
Also, there is a collection of interviews with Noam Chomsky published in a small paperback called "9-11" which really puts some perspective on the new imperial crusade.

11. Emerging Democratic Majority
It's very good, but is more scientific... an analysis of voting trends.
