Was DU responsible for getting "Bannergate" out to the media?
I saw a thread on here about the banner a few hours before the media reported on it. Did someone copy a just-published story, or are DUers actually responsible for getting "Bannergate" out into the open?

4. If we can get somethng like this out to the press, DU can be
a major asset to our nominee next year. DUers should hit the web looking for articles counters rw talking points, then send them out to the media immediately. We're definately good at being a rapid-response team.

3. DoctorMyEyes had the first thread on it, which I forgot to bookmark
Maybe he will post the link. Does anyone else have a problem searching outside of the "last 24 hours" option?

Here is our second thread:

8. Wow Stephanie
Someone remembered me! I'm so flattered! Thanks!

I read a lot more often than I post, so I'm kind of "invisible".

I couldn't find the original thread when I did a search either, but I know I started typing as soon as the idiot spoke the words! It took a few minutes to find the link to the CNN article from last May about white house stagecraft. I posted it everywhere I could think of and e-mailed a bunch of journalists, too.

I remember other people were e-mailing as well, so I don't know if we really had something to do with it, or it was just such a stupid lie that that there was a collective "WTF" across america.

David Corn was one of the writers I e-mailed and the next day he posted a collection of lies from the press conference, so I think he was already "all over it" when I e-mailed.

5. Bannergate...Part TWO..
Edited on Thu Oct-30-03 05:07 PM by SoCalDem
Remember how the carrier had to turn around so that land would not be visible, because thay wanted to land in something more exciting than a helicopter??

well.. the white house admitted that THEY MADE the banner...

ummm.. HOW did it GET to the carrier???

Was it flown by chopper when the carrier was a few miles from port???..

I can see it now.. They have chimpy in a room somewhere stuffing him into that "costume", and padding the "package".. He's probably antsy, and asking,, "When do I get to fly there?"..

He's probably told that he has to wait for the banner to be "put onboard and hung".. Maybe THAT is why the carrier was sent back out to sea.. to allow time for that banner to be placed with photo-op precision...

Can you imagine how the families who were standing on that dock for hours, watching for that carrier.. They see it coming closer and closer, and then... it goes back out to sea....:grr: Just so the chimp can take some "pitchers" and pretend he's a Flyboy, just like Poppy..:puke:

6. I think it had more to do with the fact
that his approval rating his at/near 50% and his handlers allowed him to have a press conference. If they hide him behind a teleprompter, this doesn't happen.
