BBV - HR-2239 Help Needed |
|
As of yesterday 61 Congresspeople signed on as co-sponsors of HR-2239. Any DU'ers in Ohio, especially in Congressman Ney's district, please call the Congressman and ask him to get HR-2239 out of conference and let the House vote for the bill. The following from verifiedvoting.org spells it out: Let the people at DU know that we seriously need Ney's constituents to call him in support of this bill, so HE will support the bill and move it to the floor for a vote. He's from Ohio-District 18. And also (I suppose you did) encourage all of them to call Reps and Senators. We need to continue the flood of calls. Did you give them the 800 number? (Am I micro-managing in a frenetic frenzy?) In addition to the multitudinous boondocks in Ney's district, there are: Hocking Community College Zanesville Mt.Vernon Millersburg Coshocton Canton, maybe, I can't tell for sure. It's in the Ohio Appalachia area, and Ohio University is just touching the border of the district. I've been reading a bit, and the area seems like a charming, rural place where people might just be stunned into outrage at the thought of losing their votes. So people from there should tell all their friends, call all their parent, sound the alarm, cry the cry, beat the drums .... well, you know what I mean.
The 800 number is: 1-800-839-5276
If you are able to make any contacts with any of the Congresspeople who have not already signed-on, please let verifiedvoting.org know what they said. Email contact@verifiedvoting.org or post here and I will follow-up.

...what's patriotic about a secret vote count?
Ask him why he won't stand up for your voting rights?

Everyone, regardless of what state, needs to make this call. Let Ney know that we are watching and we are serious. He was the main sponsor of HAVA and we need to tell him that he needs to fix what he broke. Without a verifiable paper ballot the voter can just stay home and let the machine vote for him. Now that may be just what Mr. Ney (R) has in mind. :kick:

in his district (18th of Ohio).
Is Ney chairman of the committee in which this bill resides? What committee is that?

of the House Administration Committee that is sitting on this bill. He was a major sponsor of HAVA2002 for good reason. No voter verified paper ballot and Diebold is in his state if not district and the CEO of Diebold is a Bush Ranger and has promised Ohio to Bush in 2004.
