Guess who's paying wealthy CA homeowners for fire loss? Taxpayers. |
|
And remember, even though CA is the most progressive state in terms of state/local taxes, it's still regressive.
The radio just reported that many of the homes which have been destroyed are in areas where the fire risk is so high, private insurers won't insure the home. However, the state does insure these homeowners.
Of course, developers probably lobied for the state law which subsidizes development of these ridiculous gated communities in dangerous areas.
In any event, it's another example of how in America we privatize the gain and socialize the costs.

I might add the approval for these homes in Scripps POWAY occurred |

during WILSON'S reign. That would be PETE WILSON ...Arnold doesn't talk when he's drinking a glass of water.
Guess Duncan Hunter (who was up in Alpine) will be on the taxpayer dole too.

2. Republicans are always the first in line for a gov. hand-out |

I'm sure sleezy Duncan Hunter will add this to the pile of money he has already looted via corporate bribes and rich man's welfare (tax cuts)

1. Same type of crap with farmers and corporations. |
|
We give billions to farmers, and pay for their water projects, and they earn the big money, and then vote nearly 100% Repuglian. And how about corporate welfare? And Iraq? We taxpayers pay for making and keeping the rich,... rich. We are stupid bastards.

4. Can't get Homeowner's Insurance in some |

areas unless government backs them. Private insurance sells the insurance but it's back by govt - the hurricane that just hit would be another example where it just happened. It is really a very bad situation.
