2. Al Gore is doing the heavy lifting for the Democratic Party.
I would love to see that speech.
He is really giving the speeches in November. Maybe we can get CSPAN to broadcast them.

Gore to address terrorism, civil liberties November 9
-----------------------------------------------------
GNN News - - Former Vice President Gore will give his third major speech
on the Administration's response to terrorism on Sunday, November 9th at
the DAR Constitution Hall in Washington D.C. Gore will describe the
Administration's assault on our civil liberties as un-American and will
charge that the Bush/Ashcroft attack on the Constitution is actually a
smokescreen that obscures the Administration's fundamental failure to
meaningfully protect our national security, and that their efforts have
weakened rather than strengthened America.

This event is cosponsored by the American Constitution Society
(link:http://www.americanconstitutionsociety.org) and Moveon.org
(link:http://www.moveon.org).

7. Any chance that Street is really a crook
and the FBI probe had nothing to do with politics? I know nothing about Phiily politics but I am skeptical that they would be so obviously political in such a low level (comparatively speaking) mayoral contest. Is this guy really clean? It would hurt to elect him and have damaging wiretap evidence come out later. Just asking. I don't have any idea what the truth is but I value your opinion here.

I also agree Street will win. This has helped him. At the same time I am glad, I also wonder if this is good. Corruption should be rooted out, no matter party affiliation.

6. The machines are ok...
They are new (two/three years?) and they have a tape trail ..don't ask me exactly what...but there's both a paper print out and a cartridge that records all the action in the back... they are not Diebold machines and seem pretty trustworthy. I'm a Democratic Committeewoman and I keep an eye on the polls all day...there will be no hanky panky at our polling place, I can assure you. Democrats are firmly in control of the voting machinery in Philly anyway, so any hanky p. (of the Republican persuasion, at any rate) is just about impossible.
