I just found out something very disappointing about Patrick Leahy
He worked with Orin Hatch and Strom Thurmond on the fascist Digital Millennium Copyright Act.

2. Perhaps he was a moderating influence
I'd be more upset if there were no Democrats overseeing its drafting.

3. Every Senate Democrat voted aye...
The only thing tolerable about that is that it's no worse a record than the Repukes.

4. The DMCA
Edited on Sat Nov-01-03 12:21 AM by fujiyama
was one of the worst pieces of legistlation passed during the Clintom Admin. It still stands as an idiotic law written by politicians as a measure to kiss major corporate ass, showcasing their absolute and great knowledge about technology.

Still it's difficult to say. Which was worse -- the Communications Decency Act (which was fortunately overturned by the SC) or the DMCA?

6. The sad part is that it's a scam.
Companies use worthless crackable security that gets exposed. Do they fix it? No they press criminal charges against the whistle-blower. I'm surperised BuchCo hasn't persued this tactic in the touch-screen voting fiasco.
