Seven Days of Hell - How Do You Feel?

On the 25th of October, 2003, I made a pledge to myself and then extended that pledge to anyone reading at the time. I would not listen to, read, or in any way become involved with left wing politics for 30 days.

I tried. I listened to Hitchcock and the others filling in for Rush. I listened to Medved (who actually sometimes makes sense). I watched the evening news on CBS and NBC. I read only the major news sites, though admit to sneaking a peak at the Guardian occasionally.

I can't do it. I can not listen to the lies that are told over and over and over again. I can not read another sentence that was said by an administration official that I know is sick, disgusting spin. I can not read another word about Kobe or Shiavo or Lacy without puking.

The reason I tried to do this was to attempt to see if my perspective was somehow not receiving rational ideas anymore -

Was I a left wing nut that only read what I wanted to read and believe what I wanted to believe?

No. The answer is no. It took only one week. What were the stories in the past week on the major news outlets? Anything interesting?


Bullshit. They should be ashamed of themselves. They have not employed journalists for years now. Their words are of no consequence. Their stories are of no consequence.

Damn! Look! We must now be in the biggest batch of prosperity ever! Seven point something percent growth in the GDP!!!!!

What does that tell me? Left leaning fool that I am?
The people who do the work are working their asses off to keep their jobs.
The people that employ them are laughing their asses off because it worked.

Fear! Fear of the unknown brown skinned person blowing your grandmother up! Fear of losing your job to someone in India!!!!!!

I am more committed now to the ideals I have than I have ever been. And it only took 7 days.

I have more to share, but can't go on right now. I am intelligent, but too emotional at times.


Let's not let the terrible hell of the past few years stop us or keep us from hope. We will, if not soon, prevail. Good will always prevail though sometimes it takes its time.

The power is coming. The changes are coming.
People will turn away from the darkness. Not only the emptiness of their souls, but from the very real darkness that shadows their every move towards the light.

3. I TRY IT TOO

I force myself to listen to some talk radio, read some conservative columns. They are all in lockstep, there isn't an original thought there. I feel sick listening to propaganda and it's not even GOOD propaganda - I see through it so easily I'm constantly wondering - WHO THE F*** COULD ENJOY THIS GARBAGE ?????
