Rev. Moon sponsored Chimp's inaugural, links with Baptists
Below is a part of a continuous link between Moon and the Bushies. The link to the wife beating Baptist leader is as comical as it is pathetic.

Lyons considers Baptist link to Rev. Moon

mbattled Baptist leader Henry J. Lyons has discussed establishing links with the Rev. Sun Myung Moon, the self-proclaimed Korean Messiah known for his conservative politics, mass marriages and following of "Moonies."
The Rev. Lyons, above, has discussed the possibility that the Rev. Sun Myung Moon could address his convention's annual meeting. Lyons met privately with senior leaders of Moon's Unification Church in January while he was in Los Angeles for a board meeting of the National Baptist Convention USA Inc. They discussed the possibility that Moon could address the convention's annual meeting, which is expected to draw 20,000 Baptists to Kansas City in September.
Moon's representatives also invited the convention to join with the Unification Church in a special day of seminars devoted to family values.
The Rev. Lyons, who has been charged with racketeering and grand theft, agreed to consider at least one of those requests and has had subsequent contacts with Unification officials, according to convention members who attended the private meeting.

But critics accuse Moon's church of attempting to co-opt other denominations with a benign message of world peace and family values. And within the convention, word is spreading that Moon is buying access to the 117-year-old convention, just as he has to other mainstream organizations.
"I heard they gave $5,000. I heard they gave $50,000. I heard they gave $100,000. I heard they gave $1-million," Bifford said, adding: "I have not seen any exchange of money."
Lyons declined to say whether the Unification Church has offered any financial assistance,

Moon believes the human race can be saved only through his vision of sexual purity and sinless marriage. That is the idea behind his mass weddings, such as last year's ceremony at RFK Stadium in Washington, D.C. Unification newlyweds are expected to wait 40 days before consummating their marriage. The result: True Love and True Families.
In recent sermons, Moon has criticized the United States as "the kingdom of free sex," as a fallen nation whose women "practice free sex just because they enjoy it."
An odd partnership?
Given such views, Lyons might seem an odd partner for Moon.
Lyons has been married three times. His first wife accused him of beating her. Then last year, Lyons' wife Deborah set fire to a house after she discovered Lyons owned it with a female convention employee. Another convention employee was Lyons' "paramour," according to the Pinellas prosecutors.
Unification leaders said they will not be bothered by the claims against Lyons. "We don't know what's going on with that," said Rev. Pak. (Moon, too, has faced family problems, including charges of adultery.)

snip
Some black ministers viewed Moon as a victim of religious persecution when he was convicted of tax fraud and sentenced to 18 months in prison in the 1980s.
"Anybody who tries to do good, they try to tear them down just like they did with Christ," said the Rev. Amos Waller, a Chicago preacher who has been a member of the National Baptist Convention for more than four decades.

Evangelicals unaware inaugural event was sponsored by Unification leader
Baptist Press/January 23, 2001
By Todd Starnes
Washington -- Evangelical leaders, including many Southern Baptists, were unaware that the Jan. 19 Inaugural Prayer Luncheon for Unity and Renewal was sponsored and by Sun Myung Moon, founder of The Washington Times and the Unification Church.
The prayer luncheon, held in Washington, featured more than 1,400 of the nation's leading ministers, civic and political leaders. A delegation of Southern Baptist leaders was in attendance, including SBC President James Merritt, Executive Committee President and Chief Executive Officer Morris H. Chapman, and Ethics & Religious Liberty Commission President Richard Land. Other Southern Baptists in attendance were Paul Pressler of Houston, Houston pastor Ed Young of Second Baptist Church and Prestonwood Baptist Church pastor Jack Graham from the Dallas area.
"I was shocked to see that Sun Myung Moon was on the program and in essence, the host," Chapman said. "I was even more surprised on the way out of the banquet hall to be given a propaganda book on the Unification Church." Merritt, who delivered a tribute to evangelist Billy Graham, said he was stunned to learn that the event was sponsored by Moon's church.
"We knew that it was going to be an interdenominational event, but we had no idea that the luncheon was hosted by the Moonies," said Merritt, pastor of an Atlanta-area church. "My invitation to the event came through Doug Wead." Wead, a former White House senior staffer for George Bush, was one of the organizers of the luncheon. In his invitation to Merritt, no reference was made of Moon's participation or sponsorship. Wead could not be reached for comment........more

Furthermore, Moon is a close friend of George Bush Sr. , with whom he shares a history of covert activities <http://www.disinfo.com/disinfo?p=folder&title=The+Bush+Nazi+Coke+Moonie+Connection>] . Nowadays, Moon pays Bush and his wife Barbara hundreds of thousands of dollars in speaking fees. Sounds too incredible to be true?--check out this excerpt from "The Consortium" article.
In September 1995, Bush and his wife, Barbara, gave six speeches in Asia for the Women's Federation for World Peace, a group led by Moon's wife, Hak Ja Han Moon. In one speech on Sept. 14 to 50,000 Moon supporters in Tokyo, Bush insisted that "what really counts is faith, family and friends." Mrs. Moon followed the ex-president to the podium and announced that "it has to be Reverend Moon to save the United States, which is in decline because of the destruction of the family and moral decay." <41> .
As further evidence of Moon's power in high places, Republican Establishment leaders recently attended a Washington Times gala to honor Reverend Moon. Those in attendance included Alexander Haig (Reagan's Secretary of State), Sen. Orrin Hatch, Sen. Strom Thurmond, House Manager chief Henry Hyde, Chris Cox and Caspar Weinberger (Reagan's Defense Secretary). According to the Washington Times, General Haig even embraced Reverend Moon and called him his "soulmate"! (This was covered by Jeanette Walls in her MSNBC column; Feb. 22, 2000).

The newsgroups have recently been the scene of some heated debates on the merits of the recently released book titled Assassination Science. The Author, James Fetzer, had some intense confrontations with Martin Shakelford and Howard Platzman. Fetzer has implied that Martin is some kind of disinformation agent. The readers might want to learn about an association of Jim Fetzer's with a book publisher that is owned by a man who is no stranger to "disinformation."
The "Moonies" are a religious cult headed by the Rev. Sun Myung Moon. Moon founded the Unification Church. A book company by the name of Paragon House has published several books that Jim Fetzer has authored or edited. Paragon House (and the Washington Times) are both owned by Sun Myung Moon. Here is information about Paragon House and about the books they have published by James Fetzer. I draw no conclusions about the motivation of Jim Fetzer to be involved with Paragon House. We'll leave it up to the reader to make their own interpretation.

This is the first I have seen about this. I mean they even covered his court trial. Guess the news knows how to keep Moon out of the media here, huh?

4. Investigator of Moon dies mysteriously

Do you recall the hearings in the 70s that were investigating Moon, and Poppy put up roadblocks? Boettcher was the lead investigator for the Dems. I'm not sure if he's related to Michael Boettcher of CNN....
audio here....
<http://www.democraticunderground.com/cgi-bin/duforum/duboard.cgi?az=show_thread&om=27165&forum=DCForumID60>

What happened to Robert Boettcher? He was a lead investigator for the 70's congressional report on Korean relations and the Moon organization. He authored the book, 'Gifts of Deceit :Sun Myung Moon, Tongsun Park, and the Korean Scandal'(1980) Allen Tate Wood former member writes the review of Boettcher's book here:
<http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/0030445760/qid%3D978915705/002-3186401-7900004>
From the jacket of his book.... quite impressive, very well educated, multilingual and an Asian expert. If you read it, I think you would wonder like me, "What happened to this guy?"
Well, Emory reported Mr. Boettcher died from an as yet, 'unexplained' fall from the roof of an apartment building in NY in 1984. So sad. The congressman in charge of the committee, Donald Frasier, lost his run for re-election in Minnesota after the Moonies sent in help for his opponent in the democratic primary. Frasier's home burned to the ground the night of the election.

What did Boettcher find?

Boettcher’s interviews with former Moonies revealed that Moon was ‘appalled’ by American individualism and considered moving to Germany’ where people were trained in totalism.’ (Robert Boettcher, Gifts of Deceit: Sun Myung Moon, Tongsun Park and the Korean Scandal, Holt, Rinehart and Winston, 1980.)

Boettcher writes that according to former Unification church members, Moon’s program to ‘instill discipline’ included showing ‘Nazi films on organizing Hitler Youth.’" (Ibid.; pp. 1-2.)

11. Moon link to WWII Japanese fascists.
http://www.ffwpu.asn.au/The%20Life%20of%20Reverend%20Moon/ch3333.htm
Beginning March 19, 1978, the House Committee on International Organizations held hearings at which the Unification Church was accused of spying for the Korean government. President Carter's administration had named Minnesota Congressman Donald Fraser as its representative in its investigation of Reverend Moon, and Col. Bo-hi Pak, one of Reverend Moon's close assistants, was called to give an account. Publicly testifying three times before the congressional committee, Col. Pak's response was that as a proud Korean citizen and a proud member of the Unification Church he had acted strictly according to his conscience in opposing communism-furthermore, that the accusation of involvement with the KCIA was merely a conspiracy on the part of communist sympathizers.

http://www.americanatheist.org/spr00/T2/fitrakis.html
Dutifully, the Washington Times - a paper owned by self-proclaimed messiah and cult leader Reverend Sun Myung Moon - ran a headline stating, “Bush scoffs at assertion he moved too far right.” The bizarre and almost unbelievable relationship between the Bush family and the 80-year-old Moon is the dirty little secret of George W.’s campaign for President. To understand the role the Moonies play in U.S. politics, one must start with Ryoichi Sasakawa, identified in a 1992 PBS Frontline investigative report as a key money source for Reverend Moon’s far-flung world empire. In the 1930s, Sasakawa was one of Japan’s leading fascists. He organized a private army of 1,500 men equipped with 20 warplanes. His men dressed in black shirts to emulate Mussolini. Sasakawa was an “uncondemned Class A war criminal” suddenly freed with another accused war criminal - Yoshio Kodama, a leading figure in Japan’s organized crime syndicate Yakuza - in 1948.

In January 1995, Japan’s KYODO news-service uncovered documents establishing that the one-time fascist war criminal suspect was earmarked as an informer by U.S. military intelligence two months prior to his unexplained release: Declassified documents link Kodama’s release to the CIA. During World War II, the Kodama Agency, according to U.S. Army counterintelligence records, consisted of “systematically looting China of its raw materials” and dealing in heroin, guns, tungsten, gold, industrial diamonds and radium. Both Sasakawa and Kodama’s CIA ties are a reoccurring theme in their relationship with the Moonies. In 1977, Congressman Donald Fraser launched an investigation into Moon’s background. The 444-page Congressional report alleged Moonie involvement with bribery, bank fraud, illegal kickbacks and arms sales. The report revealed that Moon’s 20,000-member Unification Church was a creation of Korean Central Intelligence Agency (KCIA) Director Kim Chong Phil as a political tool to influence U.S. foreign policy. The U.S. CIA was the agency primarily responsible for the founding of the KCIA. The Moon organizations have denied any links with the Korean government or intelligence community. Moon, who is Korean, and his two Japanese buddies, Sasakawa and Kodama, first joined together in the 1960s to form the Asian People’s Anti-Communist League with the aid of KCIA agents, alleged Japanese organized crime money and financial support from Chinese Generalissimo Chiang Kai-Shek. The League concentrated on uniting fascists, right-wing, and anti-Communist forces throughout Asia.

Kodama and the aforementioned Ryoichi Sasakawa were both deeply involved in the Japanese patriotic societies. Before a discussion of both individuals’ involvement with the Moon organization, WACL and the persons and events involved with and leading up to the attack on Pearl Harbor, the broadcast highlights the May 15 incident, the most important of the assassinations performed by the patriotic societies. (As indicated above, these assassinations paved the way for the rise of fascism in Japan, through the elimination of potential opponents of the Japanese fascists and militarists.) On May 15, 1932, the Japanese Prime Minister was assassinated by a conspiracy hatched by the patriotic societies, acting through a group of young military officers called the Blood Brotherhood. "The civilian wing of the young officers’ plot was a gang called the Blood Brotherhood (Ketsumeidan, literally the Blood Oath Band). Some of them were vicious youths, living on the borderland where patriotism and crime meet; others were idle, fanatical students. All of them were idealists, in their way. They were willing instruments, but they had hypnotized themselves with slogans and they regarded themselves as more than tools. The prospect that the army would become the active force of revolution had stimulated the patriots all along the line, and many currents met in the movement which culminates on May 15."

12. Hmmm, here's a list
Of Moonie controlled organizations from Constantine himself. Could be in attempts to distance himself from past sourcing gaffes in the face of his critics. The jury is still out on him for me....

Moon's Organization

This list is a revision of the front group list created in June 1981 by the
Ex-Moon Organization. It contains numerous listings of fronts that may or
may not be in existence today. We have marked organizations known to be
defunct by the following symbol (#). We have marked those organizations
known to be very active by this symbol (*). In the case of business fronts,
these have a tendency to change location or just cease doing business. Most
of the organizations listed are still active. However, it is possible that
some businesses may no longer be affiliated with the Unification Movement,
particularly businesses created by people who were recruited into the
movement and later left.

13. Poppy's praise of Moon,
From Robert Parry's book "Lost History" page 292:

Bush proved especially valuable when Moon launched a newspaper in South America. The theocrat confronted a skeptical reception because of his past support for the region's brutal military dictatorships and evidence Moon associates to the drug trade. On Nov. 22, 1996, Bush came to the rescue. He flew to Buenos Aires and paved the way for Moon with Argentine president Carlos Menem.

Bush also was the keynote speaker at a gala reception for the new newspaper, 'Tiempos del Mundo'. With Moon sitting just a few feet away, Bush lavished praise on the theocrat.'

'I want to salute Reverend Moon, who is the founder of 'The Washington Times' and also of 'Tiempo del Mundo', Bush declared. Alot of my friends in South America don't know about 'The Washington Times', but it is an independent voice. The editors of 'the Washington Times' tell me that never once has the man with the vision interfered with the running of the paper, a paper that in my view brings sanity to Washington."
