Breaking on MSRNC: Media to Blame for Attacks on Troops!
....I kid you not! I just caught this on the tube a few minutes ago. The newsreader said a high ranking Military Official said the media is to blame for continued attacks on out troops. She said "we will tell you why in the next half hour". This ought to be good....:eyes:

1. Oh, they are going to spew out more crap
This is not right. This is not right at all. We heard all the Republican senators say the White House needs to be level with the American people and they obviously aren't doing it.

I am very concerned about things in this country. I cannot believe people do not see what the hell is going on.

2. Hey are they following the script?
This looks like it came right out of BRAVE NEW WORLD or 1984.
In fact, I have been noticing this more and more since Bush and his backers took over.

Am I the
only one who see's this?

3. Soon to be followed by
"Media to Blame for Deficit"

"Media to Blame for Unemployment"

"Media to Blame for High Gas Prices"

"Media to Blame for CA Wildfires"

"Media to Blame for Cold Weather"

"Media to Blame for Solar Eclipse"

And of course this future headline:

"Media to Blame for Bush Re-Selection"

21. They already did the first 2
Don't you remember * saying last summer that the economy was bad because the cable news channels kept running "Countdown to War" logos. . .which scared people so the economy was bad.

So I expect you are right about the rest.

22. Hey if it worked once
Why not go with it a second time.

Besides I always liked Jon Steward's line:

"Just who was that asshole chanting Rush to War anyways?"

5. Well the media started the damn war!
Boosh said so. All those "March to War" graphics/headlines forced his hand! :eyes:

Smells like a clampdown on "negative" reporting.....maybe the media should focus on all the "progress" being made like those 1500 schools.

7. Ted Kopppel's Closing Thought on 10/15

<...>

There is, actually, a solution, and it's deceptively simple: Level with the American public about what is going wrong. And then they — and we — will have a much easier time believing the good news when it occurs.

I could not make it through the Lacey peterson coverage. I watched at the top of the hour through their whole Iraq coverage and no mention. I will try again now.....

18. sanchez and bremer(arrogant little prick)....
basicly said nothing new. This is the jist of it: Most of Iraq is safe and secure, don't know if it is saddam or not behind the attacks,
the attacks are aimed at the Iraqi people now and we will not allow that, blah blah blah...nothing else of any substance. They refuse to take blame for or admit what a "Fuck Up" Iraq is!

10. I just want to hear the Media deny this
It would go something like:

"We respectfully beg our President to reconsider this denunciation of our efforts. We have been toiling 24/7 on his behalf since Gore announced his candidacy and, frankly, we don't see how we could have done anything more to present the President, at all times, in a positive light.

"We have left out all mention of the fact that he probably stole the 2000 election. We have made no mention of the fact that he was warned in advance of the 9/11 attacks and either could not or would not take action to prevent them. We didn't raise a single red flag when he took this country to war against Iraq and used outright lies to justify his decision. We have continally referred to him as a Popular Wartime President and a man of action who has restored Honor and Dignity to the White House, who has changed the tone in Washington.

"We have been backing George W. Bush 100 per cent since before he took office. We continue to remain steadfastly on his side in all things. However, we realize that we could probably do more to demonstrate that we support him unquestioningly in every decision he has made or, indeed, will make in the future.

"We hereby faithfully promise to redouble our efforts to beatify him. Please, Mr. President, we'll be good. We promise! Just don't kick us while we're down."

:argh:

12. recent stories aside
will the media return to being lapdogs... or will they morph into junkyard dogs and start biting a bit harder??

I've heard various explainations about the lapdog coverage of Baghdad Bush...

They range from "....too afraid to buck the public when Patriotism was running high...."

and my favorite "...Bush administration is too tight-lipped they won't give us information...."

( :eyes: so the media just sat on it's butt and took dictation?? HELLOOOOOO - part of reporting is to dig out the information, not wait for it to be spoon fed to you...... )

American troops get real nervous and start shooting... leads to bigger riots the next day....

so our troops are cannon fodder??? Ammo-sponges that just suck up all the bombs and bullets???

This ranks a real close second to the "bring'em on" statement

incredible on how they spin things...

I'm still waiting for the spin on unemployment and jobLOSS rates...
GOOD NEWS!!!! SOME AMERICANS STILL HAVE JOBS!

23. Nightline's Koppel asked Powell "is admin. flat-ass wrong?"
You should have seen Powell's reaction... tried the smooth transition into GOP line but it was great to hear. And Koppel's closing statements were great too...got Bush and Arnold in one statement.
