Ventura declines invitation from Green Party
http://www.startribune.com/stories/587/4187595.html

Former Gov. Jesse Ventura was approached recently by Green Party officials about running for president, but he declined, Ventura said Friday during the taping of his cable talk show, "Jesse Ventura's America." The show will air tonight on MSNBC.

What the hell has gone wrong with the Greens? Why in the world would they want Ventura to run for anything? Have they finally lost their minds? I've actually voted Green in the past, but it looks like that is over. This is pathetic. Maybe they should ask Ahnold next. Maybe Oprah. How about Dr. Phil. Hey, Greens, what the hell is up??

1. Perhaps a clever move to attract conservative independants.
Who knows.

2. They probably want some
famous entertainment figures to join their part

maybe they want someone that emotes more of a masculine aura.

I am not saying that there aren't any males in the Green party. It is just that maybe more males might identify with Ventura and will be drawn to that. The result? more males will move more to the left perhaps.

3. I could hardly stand it
when he was governor of my state. Honest to god, the guy is the biggest narcissistic meglomaniac. He thinks of EVERYTHING in terms of himself, plus he's a total misogynist.

When single mothers were protesting Ventura cutting their aid for college, at first he thought they were praising him, so he was joking with them. Then he got the message, his stupid head started bobbing like it always does when he's agitated; then he started criticizing THEM, saying 'well, why are you single mothers?' instead of addressing the problem. That's when I knew I hated his guts.

He didn't disappoint during the rest of his 'reign', except when he vetoed 'Women's Right to Know', a repuke tactic to make women wait for abortions.

4. Stop whining about him...
I'd take Ventura and Wellstone representing me over Pawlenty and Coleman. Hell, I'd take that lame-duck Brady guy over Coleman, even though I was pleased with Coleman's support for file-sharing.

6. NO, I'm NOT going to stop
And it's not whining, so don't insult me. The guy was the worst 'fair weather' friend this state ever had. He gave away the surplus, then cut and run when economic problems began. And it was his support of Penny that put Pawlenty Pig in the governor's office.

By the way, you're on ignore now. I don't need people like you in my life.

14. No, Goldberg
So the whole nation could chant 'GOLDBERG! GOLDBERG!' as he announced the invasion of North Korea.

10. Resist getting knickers in a knot.
I realize that any excuse will do for those looking to confirm their antipathy toward Greens, but it is hard to take this seriously.

First, there are already about half a dozen Greens who have expressed an interest in the nomination. There is no want of candidates.

Second, anyone who paid attention in 2000 knows that Ventura does not really share Green values. The extent of his interest is a belief in a broader third party movement and a belief that Democrats and Republicans should not have used rent-a-cops to exclude Nader from the debate grounds after they'd joined hands to keep him out of the debates.

Finally, these sources are unnamed and not even identified as being at the state or national level. There was a similar tempest in a teapot over a group in New Hampshire not long ago.

Be calm.

13. You are entirely correct
and had I seen your post before I entered mine, I might well have resisted the temptation to pile on. The main reason I agree with you is the fact that the sources are "unnamed". I rarely put faith in unnamed sources in stories such as this, but my hostility towards the Green party got the best of me.

And I did make your point.
