The Clark campaign and volunteering

A serious question to Clark supporters - how does one volunteer?

I have sent two emails via the Clark website looking to help, but have received nothing in reply. Is there another way to go about it? I feel I have something to offer, and would like to get involved.

I guess the answer is: you don't.

Hahahaha.

Just send money.

Do be sure and come back and tell us how your contacts with Susan in New Hampshire work out, won't you?

6. Ah, nothing like comraderie amongst Dems, eh?

Eloriel,

I'm very glad you like Dean - I do too. But the point of your response is, um, exactly what? In case you missed it - here's the mantra: We're all in this together, Bush bad. Repeat ad infinitum.

5. Didn't You Get the Memo?
It's a national media campaign. Auditions will be held for campaign backdrop appearances, but there are very specific requirements and only a small number of openings. :-)

(And before anyone says it, lighten up! A little gentle inter-campaign ribbing is just fine.)

10. Typical of most campaigns....
I'm addicted to campaigns and have worked on a few.

What happens a lot of the time is that you have different people working on them. Some are organized and aggressive. A lot are disorganized and never call people back. A lot of volunteers slip through the cracks that way.

When I used to man the phones during one of the campaigns I worked on in Chicago I would get tons of calls from disgruntled people who were complaining that they had called several times to volunteer or to ask about rallies, etc. and that no-one had ever called them back.

After that, I resolved to be sure to call every one of them back. Apparently, I was in the minority because I kept on hearing the same thing over and over again from potential volunteers. You wonder how many potential volunteers are lost due to that sort of thing.

11. Are you kidding...I can't get them to leave me alone...
I signed up during the draft and after. It took a coupla weeks but now I get tons of calls and emails. I also get invites from my state's clark organization. Go onto his site and find the link to the many clark state or special interest organizations.

12. I'm sure if you dig around you can find opportunities...
...or if that isn't enough, you can take a page from other campaigns and just act pro-actively. Make some fliers and just start doing cold calls, or do some Letters to the Editor in local papers. All kinds of stuff you can do to support your nominee.
