Dean Wins Straw Poll Among SEIU Local 1984 Members in New Hampshire

Demonstrating Howard Dean's increasing support among union members, Dean overwhelmingly won a straw poll conducted at the annual state convention of the Service Employees International Union (New Hampshire) Local 1984. The convention was held in Concord today.

Dean received an incredible 65 of the 119 votes cast, placing him far in the lead of Dick Gephardt, who received 20 votes. George W. Bush received more votes than John Kerry (9 and 7, respectively), and the remaining votes went to Edwards (5), Clark (4), Lieberman (2), Kucinich (1), Sharpton (1) and Undecided (2).

SEIU has 1.6 million members nationwide, with more than 8,000 in New Hampshire, and is one of the most diverse unions in the nation. From their website: "We are nurses, doctors, health technicians, workers in local government, state employees, security officers, janitors, and building service workers. We are nursing home workers, home care workers, public school workers, bus drivers, stadium workers, and people in many other jobs."

2. How long will it take the Cluckers to jump on this I wonder? n/t
By post 5, it will be a full blown flaim war. It seems that defending Clark is no longer good enugh. Now they spend a lot of there time flaiming the Dean theads.

3. Sauce for the goose. Turnabout is fair play.
Do unto others as they do unto you. And so on.

5. what's the good of a post like this?
why are you bringing up (and insulting) supporters of another candidate on a Dean thread?

Maybe the thread would have turned into a flame war on its own, but why instigate it?

4. SEIU is probably the biggest and one of the most progressive unions
and one of the most active. This is very good for Dean.
